Love me some waving cats! The first one I saw in a store was creepy (they use these to catch your attention). I saw this cluster for sale in hong Kong and thought I needed a little memory souvenir of it.

I hope a few of us from this community get an invite. Would be fun to meet more of you in this community. I know that one other person received an invite today. How many others here applied and received this email?

The purpose of this map is to show ourselves and others what there is to see in the SLC area and in other locations in our state.  The point is to become a local tourist in our own city and state.  If you want to help contribute to this map let me know and I will add you as an editor to the map.

Thanks for everyone who contributed ideas and gave me some KML files to improve this map.  This is a new map from the other post I made the other day for community contribution.

Has anyone in the SLC area received an invite to the Local Guide Summit?  If so, what are you doing for your 60 second video submission?  #LGSummit16

I have focused on primarily adding spherical images to Google maps. I have posted 1094 images over the last two years. Not sure why I don't have more points. In some areas I have posted more than 5 images. But that does not account for half the missing points. I have tagged every image with a location. Any ideas?

Last night I met my match.  Chengdu is the land of fire.  I love eating jalapeños and other spicy foods.  I figured I could handle the spice level here.  I was wrong.

We experienced a type of food called hot pots.  Basically you have a table that has a heating source that boils a container of broth and spices.  You put meat and vegetables into the liquid to cook it.  When you think the food is done you pull out what you want with chopsticks and eat it.

When I first entered the restaurant, I realized the food would be spicy because you could feel it in the air.  As we sat around our table, several of us were coughing because of the spicy liquids brewing in the middle of the table.

On our table we had a pot with a smaller pot in the middle.  The pot in the center was a safe zone without the heavy spices.

Our server put some food into the hot section of the liquids.  Nobody else was planning on eating food from the spicy section.  So I decided I would just deal with a burning mouth and not worry about it.

While eating my lips were on fire, my eyes were watering, my sinuses were draining.  After eating a few items I started to feel full.  I didn't realize what was going on till I got home.   The spice levels had inflamed my insides.  My shirt was tight on me.  When I laid down in bed I could not lay on my stomach to sleep because it was too big.

My stomach is a bit tender today.  I am looking forward to the next part of the digestion process…

+Nathan Risenmay it was good once I ate from the non hot area. The spicy section was too hot to really enjoy the flavor.

Virtual Reality Meetup with Utah VR.  If you are interested in VR this may be of interest.  It may be a way to also meet others in the Local Guide community.  May 07, 2016 12:00 PM - 4PM.  https://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDetail.aspx?EventID=1032762582&Culture=en-US&community=0

I went to check out the VR demo and tried out the tilt brush demo.  Anyone can go try it out.  You have to schedule an appointment.  I think it is worth going to try it out!

Other communities have meetups.  It is one of the things that Google is trying to promote for each community.  What have other groups done and would there be of some value for any of us to get together for a meetup?  Scott Nebeker suggested going to stuff like the "Utah VR Meetup" https://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDetail.aspx?EventID=1032762582&Culture=en-US&community=0

Here is a map of things we are working on seeing in Utah.  If you have any suggestions, I will add locations to this map.   There is a lot more to see than what I have mapped.  What are the best things to see in your opinion? https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?hl=en_US&mid=zVJGYMH2Noo0.ky6Of9dFonro

the goal of google is for people to add reviews anywhere you go.  I made this map for each persons personal gain to see as much as you can and get to know areas that you were possibly not aware of.  This is my new map that I am working on to help people discover in utah. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?hl=en_US&mid=zVJGYMH2Noo0.ky6Of9dFonro

If you go, you should see this bridge at night. A gem in the city. Take a taxi here from tianfu square if nearby.

If you love cheesy pizza this is the place for you. The pizza is higher price but so good. It is worth trying out one of the better local pizza places in the area.

This is a very popular bike trail so it does get very crowded. It seems to be more popular in the spring than in the fall. It is a nice easy walk to get up to a nice overview of the city. I would recommend it. Just be ready to move to the side often due to many on the trail.

A surprising gem in the area. The place is busy. Get there before 9am! Also the food is great and they are quick to serve your food. The menu is limited, but the food they serve is very good. I think this is a must for people wanting to explore the city and to get to know some fun locations. They have seating inside and in an outside tent area where a garage would normally be. It is heated on cooler mornings. This place is a house converted into an eatery. The place closes at 4pm.

Was a very nice store to have everything we needed while in the DR. Clothing, swim suits, almost any normal food type can be found there. If you need rice you can find a full isle of every variety of rice imaginable :)

This is a surprising group. We went once as a random date idea and we end up going back every few months. Improv is a hit and miss on comedy level. Most times I come out of there having many laughs. Tip: buy a Groupon ticket that gives you candy and a discount ticket. They discount shows up every few months. $10 with Groupon for 2. $12 without Groupon and no candy for 2. If no groupon it is still worth going for $6. Have fun!

Sign up to test the VR in the store. They give you 15 minutes to go through 4 virtual reality demos. Also it is impressive how helpful the employees at this store are. I walked in and was just looking around and almost every employee asked if I needed help. Just so different from other stores I have visited.
