Have you ever seen someone comment on Facebook or any other social media site and they were quite clearly having a go at someone. I'm not referring to any form of bullying here - they were simply unhappy with someone and wanted to let the world know?

Now imagine if that someone was you and the target of your frustration was your employer or, on the other hand, what if you are the employer and you witness one of your employees sounding-off about you or your company, what could be the possible outcome?

I've literally just received this post, http://bit.ly/2rFt4lB from my good friend Mike Paterson, Senior HR & Employment Lawyer at Berwins Solicitors in Harrogate, which demonstrates just such a case and why every business, large or small should ensure they have a social media policy in place and why, if you are the employee, you need to ensure that you are aware of your company's policy on social media posting - Mike's article makes for sobering reading!

Do You Suffer From LinkedIn Parapet Syndrome?

Have you ever found yourself thinking "I'd like to send that person a LinkedIn connection request" and instead, you hesitate and think better of it? Are there moments when you want to leave a comment on someone else's post but a mild level of stress builds up inside and you quickly move your fingers away from the keyboard? Do you have some great insight that you'd like to share with your LinkedIn network but the very thought of posting an update, let alone writing an article, fills you with dread? If you experience any of these traits, then welcome to Parapet Syndrome!

There are few things that annoy me more than a cold call, which interrupts my morning, my routine, my thought process and my equilibrium. You'd think by now that I would be disciplined enough not to answer such a call, especially when I'm in the middle of doing something 'important' but no, like you possibly, I kid myself that this unrecognised number could be my next most valuable client. Does this approach frustrate you too? http://bit.ly/2rljbX9
