Ahhh, simpler days...
Ok, so here's an iconic shot of President Kennedy bestowing an honor to Mercury Astronaut Alan Shepard in 1963. By all accounts, this was a very high profile ceremony in the White House Rose Garden after Shepard's historic space flight.
So is it just me, or is it odd that they were using regular old galvanized water pipe to fashion a microphone stand?

Seriously??
So what this really says, is that this past Monday, one-seventh of the entire world's population had nothing better to do than waste time on Facebook!. Incredible.

The social network has a major milestone to celebrate.

Curious about Google's newly-created parent company Alphabet?  This chart does a good job of laying out the holding company's subsidiary interests.

I had the privilege of being invited to create a 360˚ virtual tour of this year's Diner en Blanc pop-up party on Aug. 27 at Pershing Square in LA.  About 1,000 people attended this private party, where two requirements were to wear ALL WHITE, and bring your own food, table & chairs.  CRAZY wild time!

Ok, so how much mass and energy does it take to bend Spacetime??
You know you've always been curious, right?  Interesting read, and only a little math.
A hundred years on, and the implications of Einstein's general relativity still surprise and delight

Stopped by one day during business hours and the place was closed. The owner from an adjacent business came out, talked to me, and then called the owner of the business. The owner on the phone said that he'd be back in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, no change, so I left to find another smog place.

Recently did some price comparing for a set of P185/60R15 car tires, and they were the cheapest here. $408 @ Sam's Club (BF Goodrich), $442 @ the local Toyota dealership (General AltiMax), and $480 @ an independently-owned Firestone dealer (Hankok H727). I know apples and oranges--different tire brands. But I was looking at relatively comparable milage warranties. Wife & I also shop at Sam's Club every week for groceries, and the trip is always uneventful--we get what we need at competitive prices. Items however like produce we go to Winco for (which is a separate matter). BTW, this store has just recently introduced self-checkout, which greatly improves checkout times.
