Well it's about damn time they got the photon torpedoes working!
It's time to stop getting out of the way and start standing up to space junk -- with lasers.

Beware the sleeping giant, and where you get your news. Don't let "you-know-who" dominate how and what you read. Log off Facebook occasionally and soak up some of the real Internet.
Facebook's Instant Articles feature should force Web publishers to shape up. But it could result in filter-bubble tyranny.

Interesting Little Plugin

Except that it might have limited applications. I believe, like other Topaz products, there's a 30-day free trial.

Got a cold?

Forget the vitamin C. Eat an avocado instead!
Also, using intranasal zinc will make your nose fall off (sort of). Don't do it!

Lock your doors and hide your kids: sinister clowns terrorize Bakersfield residents. Really.

I love it when someone composes a Milky Way star field, but emphasizes a foreground subject.  Shooting the Galactic Center is easy.  framing it up with a compelling foreground is terrific.

"Leave The Light On" Here's a variant of the Galactic Sister shot I posted a few weeks ago from a couple nights in Eastham. This was shot the night before and it is the only time I've seen the interior light left on. This was great because there's no way to light that window from the outside since there's only one. If you like this shot, give it a share! www.capenightphotography.com

Congress will be considering changes to surveillance laws which could affect you! Please read this and consider adding your name to this open letter to Congress.
Read our letter to U.S. House and Senate leadership on how our surveillance laws should be changed. Then add your name to show your support. #United4NSAReform

HAPPY NEW YEAR, from a very COLD Dallas/Ft. Worth TX, where Terie and I are visiting our son, daughter-in-law and grandkids. Freezing rain hit the area Thursday (pictured), with it clearing up for the weekend. Hopefully it'll be sunny and warmer for our drive home to California on Monday.

My Pre-Blended Vitamix Smoothie
Orange juice, 1 banana, 1/2-apple, 1 carrot, a fist full of spinach, blueberries, strawberries, oatmeal (yeah, oatmeal... it adds some texture), a dash of vanilla & a few vitamin supplements.  Love it!

Stopped by one day during business hours and the place was closed. The owner from an adjacent business came out, talked to me, and then called the owner of the business. The owner on the phone said that he'd be back in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, no change, so I left to find another smog place.

Recently did some price comparing for a set of P185/60R15 car tires, and they were the cheapest here. $408 @ Sam's Club (BF Goodrich), $442 @ the local Toyota dealership (General AltiMax), and $480 @ an independently-owned Firestone dealer (Hankok H727). I know apples and oranges--different tire brands. But I was looking at relatively comparable milage warranties. Wife & I also shop at Sam's Club every week for groceries, and the trip is always uneventful--we get what we need at competitive prices. Items however like produce we go to Winco for (which is a separate matter). BTW, this store has just recently introduced self-checkout, which greatly improves checkout times.
