Operation: Beast Wars

We are honoured to announce TFNation 2016 will see the first ever UK Transformers convention appearance of Richard Newman, who will be helping us to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Beast Wars and the 10th Anniversary of Transformers: Cybertron!

To Transformers fans, Richard is best known as Rhinox – the flower-sniffing, “Chainguns of Doom”-toting, Predacon-smacking Maximal from the Beast Wars era; a role he would later revisit in the twisted form of Tankor during the Beast Machines series.

Richard’s Transformers credentials do not end there, as he was also responsible for voicing Transformers: Cybertron’s time and space guardian, Vector Prime.

Outside of Transformers, Richard has amassed a huge resume of impressive acting work both behind the mic and on screen. Some of his many roles include; Grandfather in Pingu, Governor-General Phaeton in Exosquad; Iron Klaw from G.I. Joe Extreme; Tōtōsai from InuYasha; Cranky Doodle Donkey from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; Rattlor, The Faceless One, Lord Dactys and many others from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002); Toadborg from Bucky O’Hare and the Toad Wars and the unforgettable M. Bison from Street Fighter: The Animated Series (YES! YES!). In 2011 his performance as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice led to a Jessie Award nomination for “Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Large Theatre”.

Richard will be signing autographs and taking part in panels during our inaugural convention, which will run from Friday 19th and Sunday 21st August 2016.

Further transmissions to follow.

2 New Transformers Trademark Applications Found - Cybertron Con - http://bit.ly/1MIxOXt

Our "Trademark Bots" have been at it again and have found not one but two new trademark applications filed by Hasbro Inc with the USPTO both for the mark "CYBERTRON CON".  Cybertron Con is the name of the officially licensed Chinese / Asian Transformers convention which has taken place since 2010. Is this simple Hasbro protecting against any third party organisations from registering Cybertron Con within the US for conventions or is it an indication that Hasbro may bring their official Asian show to the US, in which case what does this mean for Fun Publications and Botcon?

The 2nd of the pair is an application within the toys category most likely again to protect the names usage with transforming figures.

You can view both of the  listings below

It's nice to see eHobby making another rare figure like this version of Drift. With all the new molds they could have chosen something different for Drifts before Autobot days. I doubt I'll grab this, I still need a Stepper from the Jazz mold.

Head on over to TFSource to read the article which accompanies the photo I shared the other day.

We were fortunate enough to be interviews by Maz for a +TFsource - Toy Store Collectors interview. Why not check it out
http://tfsource.com/blog/collector-interview-43-david-steve-mapes/
The Mapes twins, known throughout the global Transformers community, have built a Transformers museum. Not content with the regular 12 to 15 photos used in our collector interviews, David and Steve's collection requires a full complement of 36 images for us to properly appreciate the scale of ...

Operation: All Hail Guido

TFNation is delighted to welcome artist extraordinaire Guido Guidi to its inaugural convention!

An exceptionally popular comic artist who has worked with Transformers since the Dreamwave era, Guido has lent his talent to the smash hit All Hail Megatron, the fan-favourite Last Stand of the Wreckers and of course the ongoing books, The Transformers and More Than Meets The Eye.

In addition to his comic work, Guido has also provided artwork for various Transformers DVD covers, box art for toys, trading cards and publications around the world. If you’re a fan of Transformers, you have certainly enjoyed his artwork!

Guido has most recently applied his talents to the video game Transformers Devastation, where he provided not only the game’s box art, but also served as a concept artist for the game’s characters.
Outside of the Transformers franchise, Guido has worked on IDW’s Dungeons and Dragons and publications for Marvel, such as the Super Hero Squad books and short stories for Marvel Rampage Magazine.

For a glimpse of his work, take a look at Guido’s deviantART page (http://guidoguidi.deviantart.com/).

Guido will be signing autographs and selling artwork from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation 2016 – we look forward to seeing you there!

Further transmissions to follow.

Day 4 - 2002.

A year in which we bought our first testshots, Robots In Disguise ended, Armada began, the last Botcon under 3H took place, the only official European convention happened, Dreamwave launched their comics, the "Pop-culture years" started and the "Forum Wars" continued.
We were interviews for a supplementary magazine with a UK national newspaper, started imported toys, started our pub meets and opened up a Diamond Distribution account.
