"Oh, around 1% per day" was my answer, somewhat glibly, when asked about the impact of leaving Glance screen (i.e. time, date, app detail and notification icons) 'on' all the time. Not the default these days, but I did measure it back in the day. Under a different OS, around six YEARS ago. Which is why I wanted an up to date measurement of the power drain caused by Glance on modern hardware, in this case the Lumia 950 XL. And (to quote Spinal Tap...

+Martin Hall definitely a big thumbs up for PowerAmp. Reviews ootb make sense. However, one thing I did notice was that PowerAmp had a different impact on music quality and volume on different devices. Most noticeable for me was the external speakers on LG devices, clearly LG hadn't been getting as much from their audio hardware as they could! But to review based on the improvements that 3rd party apps make would be tricky (having said that, if my nexus 6 only had Google launcher I'd have given up on it ages ago! Nova etc make for a much more acceptable experience for me!).

Have just been adding more stuff to the Phones Show Chat weekly giveaway pile, http://stevelitchfield.com/sshow/giveaway.html

Including a bunch of power banks and chargers.

And we're about to add a bunch of boxed smartphones to the pool.

Yes, I know that other podcast ask for donations, but which of them give away a prize every single week? Just sayin'.... 8-)

Currently, only about 1% of our listenership/viewership is in the Virtual Pint of Beer a month club. Maybe you'd like to join in, if only for a few months, support me in my output, and be in with a good chance of taking your pick of the prizes?

+Steve Litchfield I enjoyed the chat thanks. You mentioned about Google Photos not having face recognition in the UK.

Well, you can get round this by using TunnelBear to pretend you're in the USA and then by clearing data on the Google Photos app and as if by magic, the face recognition appears!

It's a brilliant feature and works really well. :-)

Great device I am sure but the Honor 7 put me off that Skin for a long time. Too many changes for me. Some clever, some good but some ugly and ilogical.

+Taz Hoque there was a Sony compact years ago (can't remember the model) where the optical zoom was done in such a way as to move within the body of the camera, via a clever arrangement of lenses. It meant that when you zoomed in or out nothing protruded from the camera. A shame Sony hasn't just stuck a phone onto one of its cameras.

Enjoyable show. And nice to hear a bit of 1520 and iPhone love:)

I think it's quite sensible to consider what might happen about personal data, more so third parties rather than necessarily Google.

As Ted mentioned, there are options to turn off and restrict data collection. And things like the duckduckgo search engine (though on the whole I prefer Microsoft and Amazon services to Google's. Though I'm sure Amazon is very efficient in using data about what I buy).

And looking forward to the Asus zenfone zoom review!

Hey Windows Phone/W10M owners, I'm working on something, if you get a chance in the next 24 hours, can you comment here with the top 5 'apps' that you think the platform lacks? Cheers!

Needed to record a few calls and it turns out that call recording is not possible on WP8.1. Is it possible on Win10 Mobile +Steve Litchfield?
