This workout is a full body, single kettlebell workout.

No more waiting for kit, queuing for equipment. One kettlebell, 7 exercises and as many rounds as you can do!

Go!

This video is me snatching 70kg for triples.

These kind of sets help with conditioning for weight lifting.

One of the most important aspects of my fitness training is improving work capacity - there are spin off benefits across other areas of your fitness and it also improves sporting performance.

For all-round health and fitness improvements, don't just chase strength numbers. Mix in conditioning work to your weight lifting too.

With sporadic training over the last few weeks, I wanted to see where my strength lies at the moment. This was an 80kg snatch - I tried for more on the day but I just didn't have it in the tank!

Still, it's a heavy (for me) snatch and only 4kg off my PB, so I can't complain!

New training cycle starts in the coming days.

Practice, practice, practice!

Here's a clip of a recent kern practice session. I was going heavy this day, so technique isn't perfect, but it went up!

Onwards and upwards!

Exercise Recovery: When is too much not too much?

I’m writing this from a cafe in Fuerteventura. The sun is shining, I’ve got a nice coffee in front of me and I can see Lanzarote in the distance.

It’s a bit of down time for me and a perfect chance for me to explain a few thoughts on overtraining and exercise recovery....

This is my current PB for the clean and jerk. It's pretty messy technique-wise, but it'll do for now. There's a lot of work to be done on my overhead strength, but it's progressing.

The clean and jerk is one of the best all-body exercises there is. It's a true test of athleticism and an exercise I'd encourage anyone serious about their fitness to learn.

Here's my PB Clean! I set this on the 27th of Feb 2017 and it beat my previous record of 107.

The clean is a fantastic exercise for strength, performance and body composition. It's a way to improve athletic ability and to increase real functional strength and reduce likelihood of injury.

If you aren't putting cleans in your workouts, you could be missing out on some fantastic health benefits!
