I enjoy a good Barry rant from time to time.
Increasingly Google guidelines are quickly adopted as standard ways of working on the web. But is this a good thing? Should the web cater to Google's whims?

How many old people here have had some of their most brilliant ideas later in life and how many of you had peaked at 25 only to spend the rest of your life looking backwards?

It's important to make deals look like wins for everyone in a way that 'is' a win for everyone, even if it means being creative.
Fresh out of Stanford Business School, I started a software company, T/Maker, with my brother Peter. He was the software architect and I was, well, everything else. Our little company was among the first to ship software for the Macintosh, and we developed a positive reputation among the members of the nascent developer community, which led us to expanding our business by publishing software for other independent developers. Two of our developers...

Couldn't have said it better myself. Except I have been saying this for some time now. It's great to see other people seeing it the same way.

Ever wonder how to do away with ads as a way to monetize a website? These kids figured one out, not New Jersey wants them in court.

HAHA I was thinking this about a year ago, glad someone came up with a way to do it. Good luck coming up with names of any miners, its designed that way for a reason.  Making that connection would totally undermine the *coin currencies

Excellent post from Mike on Data Visualization. Definitely worth the read.

I wrote a post about warehousing data from Google Webmaster Tools with MySQL and visualizing it with Ubiq and Chartio. Hope you find it useful
Why rely on Google Webmaster Tools when you can essentially build your own? Learn how, and start getting the data you really need.

Doc pens an open letter to Matt Cutts, Eric Schmidt, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, warning them of the dangers of self-destruction.

I'm not obsolete, yet
Introduction
When I grow up, I want to be a jeweler, a glass maker, an artist, learn to play guitar and maybe a semi-pro fisherman. I spent 10 years as a jewelry designer and I miss it terribly. I do plan to go back soon though.

Right now I'm an internet marketer (I hate being called an SEO - SEO is a small part of what I do, it's not who I am) specializing in helping businesses define their online and offline goals and then achieving them.

I love the startup process. Whether it's one of mine or helping someone else start theirs, I love being involved, mentoring, and talking about startups.
Bragging rights
My wife and I recently celebrated being married for 25 years. I really can't believe that she has put up with my crap for that long, but I love her for being there all along. I also have an amazing daughter. She walks a path I would not have chosen for her, but I am thrilled that we helped give her the tools to be able to find that path on her own, and enjoy being on it.
