Interesting look at a most unexpected role early boardgames played in WWII.
In her book The Monopolists, Mary Pilon explores the secret origins of the game Monopoly, which begin with Lizzie Magie, a forgotten feminist who patented her Landlord's Game in 1904—not, as many think, a man during the Great Depression.

More Inbox invites if you're interested in experimenting with it.

(I've fully adopted it on my personal side and feel pretty good about the change after a month or so.)

Very good interview with Reiner Knizia on his game development process.

By Crom!  This is some good reading about the "classic" movie that is Conan the Barbarian.
What is best in life? Seeing a classic sword-and-sorcery hero brought to the big screen, with an iconic bodybuilder in the lead role. But how did Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian become such a classic film? The path to glory was long and twisted. Here's everything you never knew about the making of Conan.

Universal Translator, we have arrived!
Earlier in the week we reported on a story that Google was readying an update for Translate that would make for easier real-time translation. We speculated the company would also look to bring Word Lens functionality. Those goods have arrived as of today.
