What a pleasure it was to have a few minutes (well it seemed like a few minutes) to take a look back at UMPCs from 2006-2010 at the Techlounge last week.  If you want to know where the roots of the consumer-focused tablet are look no further than the…

This is a great team: My mobile computing family

It would be great to hear about your setup in the comments below.
Perhaps you only have 2 devices. Or use Android, or IOS, or OS X. Let me know. Let's all see what you're packing, and what you're doing with it.

Around $1800 of PCs/smartphones covers every scenario from security to 1080p video editing - all on the move. Total weight about 3KG. 2 cellular capabilities + two keyboards hep with connectivity and redundancy. All touch.

Lenovo N20p Chromebook. Go-to, always-ready, easy to use, highly secure pc in the house, on tour and on holiday.
Surface Prro 3. My main PC that hot-desks with me and tours with me for work. 1080p video editing and photo storage.
HP Stream 8 with Datapass (3G+200MB data/month) - Great value comms tool for travelling. Works as hotspot.
Nokia/Microsoft Lumia 830 - Incredible value smartphone with images, audio and video quality that competes with smartphones that are double the price. Photos auto-shared to One-Drive which syncs with Pro 3 and Stream 8.

I'm testing a Dell Venue 8 7000 Android device but not getting far with that due to it's complexity (some might laugh at that given that i've got a Windows 8 Desktop OS on a tablet!) and (mainly) the lack of 3G/4G. This is a nice home tablet but not a mobile device - I have plenty of devices I can use at home, from surface Pro to N20p which makes a better sofa PC.

I am considering a Dell XPS 13 (2015) for longer battery life while on events but I can't justify that as the Surface Pro is so good and flexible. (Not that i've fixed the Type Cover issue I had with the spacebar.)

The Surface Pro 3 is a long-term loaner from Intel. The Lumia 830 is a long-term loaner from Microsoft.

My setup is ... MS Surface Pro 2 512Gb, my main PC with docking station and plugable UD3900 so I have three monitors plus the MSSP screen. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 64Gb with 3G. Dell Venue 8 64Gb with 4G. Samsung Galaxy S4. Access and processing power always. Have power banks to power the Pro 2, Dell and Galaxy's on the move!

It’s the 23rd of March. We’re into Spring in Europe and the sun has just moved above my neighbor’s house.  According to the local weatherstation there’s 365 W/m2 hitting ground level. I’m getting 1 Watt out of my 4W Changers Maroshi panel.

Weighing just 800 grams and packing 14 W of maximum output the Anker 14W portable foldable solar charger looks like a bargain at $59.99 / €49.99. I stumbled across this at CeBIT 2015 in Hannover and took a look over it. It’s well-built, has a regulated 5V…

Low cost Core M 2-in-1 products are coming. PN Devices have a couple in development. Here's one.

Queuing to order food, picking it up yourself, eating with local Telekom staff at lunchtime. This 'new concept' style is somewhat over-rated in my opinion. Clean and smart location and food good though.

Average quality hotel is clean and friendly. Value for money is good although don't expect the buffet breakfast to run room smoothly in high season. Hotel building 2 has no reception and is situated across from a car park that can be noisy from early to late. Great position for exploring the area though. Nearby restaurants suitable for all tastes.

One of my favorite bars in Bonn. Its busy though so although the food is reliable, it isn't the most relaxing of places to eat.

You know a hotel is honest when they only charge €5 for 7 days internet usage. Clean, tidy, modern rooms. Good location.

Make sure you board the steam-powered ride. There's a diesel locomotive that's not half as interesting as the smelly steam locomotive! 8 minutes at about 10km/h is worth it. Take a look a the cabin classes and imagine. . .
