Introduction

Stephen Watson is definitely a sports guy, and not just at work. He loves playing golf, hiking, skiing and playing tennis, and having grown up just outside of Philadelphia in Ambler, Pennsylvania, he's a self-proclaimed "Philadelphia sports fanatic."

Stephen graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2011, where he double-majored in Journalism as well as Mass Communication and Communication Arts: Radio, TV & Film. There, he got his start in sports reporting, working as Student Assistant of Athletic Communications at the Wisconsin Athletic Department, as well as being a play-by-play announcer for the student radio station, WSUM 91.7 FM. He also broadcasted for the Big Ten Network's "Student-U" program, and interned at ESPN Radio in both Philadelphia, and Madison, WI.

After college, Stephen got his first job as the Broadcast Director and play-by-play announcer for the BEK Sports Network in North Dakota. From there, he landed his new gig as Sports reporter for WPTZ/WNNE. Stephen joined the sports department in October 2012.

Stephen is ready to make sure our area sports are well covered. Send him an email at sewatson@hearst.com to let him know about sporting events going on in your area, or to just say "hi!"
