So the Virgin TV Anywhere app I've installed on my phone doesn't stream over the phone network. Obviously some usage of the word "anywhere" I'd previously been unaware of.

We told you so.

In a nutshell: the reality of what creates and reverses growth is the exact opposite of what the current right-wing, neo-liberal agenda has been espousing ever since its rise to power under Thatcher and Reagan in the eighties. Perhaps worst of all, the report showed evidence that the UK would have been 20 per cent better off if the gap between the rich and poor hadn’t widened since the eighties.

Thanks, +Ian Wolton
The sickening theory of laissez-faire capitalism finally died with the recent report from one of the West’s leading think tanks. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has found that income inequality actually hampers economic growth in some of the world’s wealthiest countries, while the redistribution of wealth via taxes and benefits doesn't.

I built this Hammond C3 in Second Life from prims, which explains why the model is relatively simple. Some of the things, like the drawbars, are textured when they should really have been modelled. This is because the Hammond was already weighing in a 152 prims as it stands.

For this reason, I exported it from Second Life as a Collada and imported into Blender intending to re-import it back into Second Life as a mesh with a reduced land impact. However, the land impact stayed exactly the same. I obviously need to give it a bit more thought. (Any ideas?)

I was pleased to discover that the texture mapping was retained when I imported the Hammond into Blender and, after giving most of the objects and materials meaningful names, it was a simple job to link the textures to the materials.

I then got sidetracked from the original task and spent some time fiddling with materials, lighting etc. Although not modelled in Blender, what we have here is my first rendering using Blender/Cycles that goes beyond the usual shiny-balls-on-checked-surfaces.

Yes there's plenty wrong with everything. Lighting, materials, crude modelling, composition etc. But I just thought I'd share it here. Any (gentle) comments will be appreciated.

I spent some time playing with the LOD settings, but found it impossible to get a good compromise. I'll look into the tip about the lowest LOD slot. Thanks for the info, I've got a few ideas to play with now. Well, it was intended as a learning exercise.

Let's keep up the excitement about the successful first flight of NASA’s Orion Spacecraft. "It's All About That Space", the newest music video created by NASA JSC Students. We're bringing rockets back, go ahead and tell the whole world that!
