+Mike Downes thanks for sharing. I have a lot of questions, not quite sure where to start. As a frequent user of (free-to-watch) "how-to" Youtube videos I do believe there is a value to obtain information, and yes, even paying for it, if the content is helpful and supported by other resources. The best recent example was the Hangout Helper paid group. I belonged for a couple of years until Google Hangouts started to decline in value. I like the overall idea of what you are trying to do as youtube ad revenues are hardly worth the effort. For instance, right now, I am working on learning as much as possible about live streaming and multi-casting into social media platforms and so far, it is difficult to find a lot of experts in this early-stage yet already-fragmented area. Being able to watch videos from experts on topic and other resources, plus, being able to communicate with those subscribers and experts would be very useful. I hope the above is useful to you. Be glad to meet with you and others in a zoom.us discussion to explore further.

+Terry Leigh Britton watched your youtube on obs and stress on cpu. very good. I am trying to stream into facebok live and periscope simultaneously. Been successful with this but pushing the envelope when I do two people from various locations using desktop (my guest and me). I am looking for ways to reduce the load on computer so reducing screen size, resolution, fps very helpful. Any other thoughts are appreciated. Also, if anybody here has time and would like to test the two-party stream into facebook and periscope, please get with me. I am very close to success but not quite there yet. Thanks.

Hi,
I am totally ignorant as it relates to using VLC and rstp. What I am trying to do, if it can be done, is to create a streamed video conference between a panel member and me.
I have been told by someone to use vlc and obs (the latter of which i am familiar and do use).

The concept is for me to start the video and do a window capture using vlc of me in front of the computer. Then, I have been told to get rstp url from my guest and I assume put that url into the browser source of vlc.

I would then, of course, start the stream using obs.

My goal is to stream the two of us into an online platform, using another product.

Does any of this make sense? Can someone give me a step-by-step tutorial how my video guest would obtain his url from vlc so i can input it into obs?

thanks..and sorry if this makes no sense, either in concept or terminology.
