Module Advice/Conversion Ideas (modules or settings)  -

Do you use "Continuing the adventure" story ideas provided in published adventures?
Today's poll: many published adventures (well, published by me anyway) include a "Here's a few ideas on what to do next..." as a tool for judge for some story ideas for future sessions. Do you use those ideas?  (Example screen shot from The Haunting of Larvik Island Below)

I've never had a good chance to employ them, but I like them as options that could be taken up.

The Witch
Finally got a chance to see The Witch. This is a beautiful film which does an outstanding job making mid 1600 life in colonial America look miserable. I will admit, it was hard to understand the dialogue without closed captions due to the accents and faithful use of language.

And then, of course, there's the witch...

This movie takes its time and has unconventional pacing so if your taste in horror was weened from movies like The Conjuring you may need to move along. It does deliver great creepiness for those that are patient.

Map of ships buried under San Francisco
Interesting article. Interesting maps. Game ideas a plenty...

San Francisco—on top of everything else, it is literally a ship burial ground. Below, you can see where ships are entombed just below the surface, in addition to what the shores of San Francisco used to look like before it was altered. [media-credit...

50 Unpleasant Side Effects
Straight from the cutting room floor! The following table was a submission for the book 50 Fantastic Functions for the D50 published by Goodman Games. Sadly, this little guy fumbled his roll and did not make it in. Hopefully this lonely table can find a loving home somewhere in your campaign.

Happy 5 year birthday to Thick Skull Adventures
The date totally passed me by, but June 30 was the birthday to my creative outlet Thick Skull Adventures. On June 30, 2011 is when I first released The Haunting of Larvik Island for Dungeons and Dragons fourth edition.

It would be another year or so before Dungeon Crawl Classics would be released and Attack of the Frawgs would hatch for that fabulous game system.

I want to thank everyone for making these adventures so fun to work on, and being such a fabulous and supportive community.

In the photo below: +Catherine DiNardo (graphic designer), myself, and Tony Tira (cover artist) at the launch party for the print version of Larvik Island 4E at Game Kastle Santa Clara on July 9, 2011.

Gam3rCon 2016?
Hey, I know this is only a few weeks away, but is there a schedule for Fri night DCC or MCC? I'm hoping to get into a Fri night game the week of Comic-Con.

+Natalie Oz Dee I don't think I have the skills to make it through with smaller squad. There were so many saves/re saves I felt ashamed. I'm definitely going to try the new alien hunters DLC

Random Question of the day: Do you read EULAs?
You know... end user license agreements. All that legalese that comes up when you install software that asks you to click before using. Do you ever bother to read it? If yes, have you ever found anything interesting buried in the bowels of the small print?

Introduction

Thanks for dropping by.

Stuff I typically post about

  • DCC RPG: In my spare time I publish games as Thick Skull Adventures
  • Movies, TV, Books & Retro Games: I was weened on old-school geekery
  • Geekery: History, Cryptozoology, Paranormal nonsense and other fun topics
  • Technology: Mostly related to the day job at Dolby Laboratories working on Dolby Voice and other technology industry stuff.
  • RPG Games: I write RPG adventure games on the side (and if you have to ask what that is, you probably aren’t playing one…)

To be honest, I do more commenting than posting myself.

And for the really curious, here's more about what I'm up to...
