Historical prices can be converted into equivalent present-day prices by using historical inflation rates. Use this calculator to convert prices between any year in the range 1751 to 2015. You can also embed the calculator on your own website.

I find your English Pound Inflation Calculator very handy but I wish you would change the light green to a darker green or other color. I'm on my phone when I use your calculator and I have a very hard time reading the current equivalent amount. I sometimes have to take a screen shot just so I can zoom in to see the amount. Otherwise, it is brilliant.

Thank you,

Rhonda

How to implement a star rating widget that scales to the surrounding text size. The stars that never appear pixellated, regardless of the widget size or the visitor’s screen resolution. The widget is created purely using CSS, and does not require JavaScript.

Sharing.js is tiny piece of JavaScript that adds sharing functionality to arbitrary elements on a page, giving you complete control of the appearance of your site’s sharing feature without sending visitor information to a third party.

Drop-down menus are a popular form of website navigation, but many implementations suffer from serious usability problems: accidental activation (when the mouse briefly passes over the menu), accidental deactivation (when the mouse briefly moves off the menu whilst moving between items), deeper sub-menus appearing off the edge of the screen, dependency on JavaScript, a lack of support for right-to-left languages, and a lack of touch support. 'Dropdown' is a JavaScript object and associated stylesheet that solves these problems.

Tabbed panel interfaces are usually created using JavaScript, but this is unnecessary. This page describes how to style tabbed panels using CSS while keeping the semantic association between the tab labels and panel content.

In the past few days the RSPB has come under attack from a group going by the name You Forgot The Birds, a front for the country (that is, blood sports) magazine The Field. I've written a post debunking their claims here: http://aautumn.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/rspb-you-didnt-forget-the-birds.html

I've created a set of website and social media icons, freely available in both vector and bitmap formats, that use subtle gradients, highlights, and shadows to achieve an ‘almost flat’ design while maintaining the affordance of buttons.

In March 2013, Google launched the public beta of Universal Analytics, and with it new tracking code. The new tracking code makes use of modern JavaScript minification techniques, and its functionality is not immediately obvious. This page analyses and explains the new code.
