I had the good fortune of tagging along on a cruise through the fjords and glaciers of Bernardo O'Higgins National Park in #Patagonia recently, and WOW. Beautiful landscapes, luxury #travel, super photogenic. I could get used to this sort of traveling!

What is travel, really, without overindulgence and instant regret? Everything's bigger in Texas, as they say, including this #food challenge to eat far more barbecue in Lockhart, Tx than anyone ever should.

What do you think? Worth giving it a try?
A foodie daytrip from Austin doesn't get much more delicious than Lockhart BBQ. Details inside, with reviews and photos of the top three barbecue joints.

Like off-piste skiing and a tow-lined snowmobile? Apres-ski vodka, with a chaser of cognac and sheep's face?

Meanwhile, in the mountains of #Kyrgyzstanhttp://www.monkboughtlunch.com/snow-leopard-conservation-kyrgyzstan/ I was fortunate enough to join the Bishkek-based team of +Snow Leopard Trust / Snow Leopard Enterprises for a visit to their community partners in the village of Ak-Shyrak waaaaaay up into the Tian Shan, where they're working to make sure that rural communities are incentivized economically as well as ecologically to help stop poaching and hunting of #snowleopard  populations. Check it out, let me know what you think: http://www.monkboughtlunch.com/snow-leopard-conservation-kyrgyzstan/

Of all the world's many great museums, few have struck me on such a personal level as the Museum of Innocence in #Istanbul. After connecting with the characters in the eponymous novel by Orhan Pamuk, it's hard to see the exhibits and not feel a reflected sense of the loss and love that permeates so strongly though the exhibits.

http://www.monkboughtlunch.com/museum-innocence-love-madness-istanbul/

If ever you're in Istanbul: grab a copy, read it all the way through, then get over and explore the very real artifacts of this very fictional tale.
The Museum of Innocence in Istanbul, based on the Orhan Pamuk novel of the same name, is one of the more unusual yet delightful museums in the city.

An unexpected side of #winter in Kyrgyzstan:

Beautiful off-piste skiing, a community-based ecolodge project, and even (be still my heart) a press trip to show it all off.

Looking back a bit, I just published a guest post on the +Manouk BoB page of all the beautiful and terrible places to sleep on the southern shore of the Greek island of Crete. Fond memories, even of the bats flying repeatedly into my skull.
