Iceland trip - day 3

Stopping at:
Hellisheiðarvirkjun Geothermal energy production facility

Gullfoss (Gold Falls) to see the falls and have some hot meat (lamb) soup

Geysir (Geyser, obviously) national park to watch Strokkur erupt, and see the other geysirs

Thingvellir national park (site of the Allthing, the Icelandic parliament, between the ninth to eighteenth centuries), including Thingvallavatn (the Allthing lake) and a hike up to Lögberg (Law Rock, where the law-speaker who was head of the allthing would speak 1/3 of all the rules and laws of the land for each allthing- law-speakers had three year terms, and over the course of each three-year cycle all the laws would be addressed) at sunset.

Lastly, recuperation back in Reykjavik for some Maryland cookies and to warm up...

Thanks again +Kaitlyn Price and +Scott Barner for being great travel companions!

Pictures appear to be in reverse-order, so uh, sorry about that...

Day two, exploring Reykjavik...

Walking Sæbraut to Harpa,

Up to Hallgrímskirkja,

Around the city-center area,

Walking across a completely frozen (nearly) Tjörnin (lake in central Reykjavik) and getting swarmed by geese...

All in all a relaxing but still busy day

Day 1 stops and pictures:
Bláa Lónið (Blue Lagoon, geo-thermal heated saltwater spa), a must-do in Iceland which does not disappoint...

The Massif (Esja Massif) as seen across the bay from our hotel room in Reykjavik.

The moon rising at Vatnsholt (the hotel we went to watch the Northern Lights) last night.

I'm sorry to disappoint everyone, but the Northern Lights did not show up in any of my pictures, but they were amazing to see. If you get a chance, you should definitely go see them...

Thanks +Kaitlyn Price and +Scott Barner for being excellent travel buddies...
