Proposal submitted

Thanks to incredible help from the community, I just submitted a proposal for the Network Literacy Leadership Academy to eXtension as part of the Innovative Projects RFP.

This was a truly collaborative effort - more than a dozen people directly edited the proposal and we shared over 100 comments as we worked on it. I look forward to the project getting funded and gathering additional contributions form the community as the team makes the Academy a reality.

That was so the picture for us last year. So glad it is not the picture for us this year. Make sure to take your vitamin D!

We'll be having a webinar on February 11, 2015 at 3PM Eastern to discuss Leveraging Technology in Collaborative Work. Current technologies enable us to assemble collaborative teams that are diverse, geographically-dispersed, and represent many domains of expertise. This #netlit   webinar will highlight the benefits and considerations when working as a virtual team.

+Ronnie Bincer - I know you focus on HOA stuff, but thought you might find this interesting if you haven't seen it yet.

The Google Drive app in Hangouts is going away

As of December 15, 2014 the way you share files from Google Drive when in a Hangout will be changing. Instead of using the Google Drive app, you will be able to share the file in chat using a Drive file picker. When participants click on the file, which will be previewed in chat, it will open in a new tab. (http://googleappsupdates.blogspot.com/2014/11/better-collaboration-in-hangouts-video.html)

I know I've had problems with participants finding the Google Drive app and the file I've shared, so this may be an improvement - we'll have to see.

Qualtrics  -

UNH recently purchased access to the offline survey feature in Qualtrics. We're looking forward to using it at events and possibly field research to gather information when we don't have an Internet connection.

Does anyone have experience using this feature? Are there issues or lessons learned you could share?
Learn how to use the Qualtrics Offline Surveys app to run surveys without an Internet connection on your Android or iOS device.

EdTechLN folks may be interested in the content of this session, or perhaps the way I'm approaching it. This webinar will be "flipped." There are some things for participants to do before the session, so we can focus on discussion and interaction when we're live.

If it's on the Internet is has to be true. Right?

We'll be hosting a session on assessing the reliability of online information on April 20th at 1PM Eastern

It will be a "flipped" webinar: Rather than just deliver you a presentation, you will be asked to review and submit feedback about three websites (about fracking) before the session. During the live session, we will discuss the sites, your feedback, processes for evaluating them, and ask you to actively participate in the discussion.

I'm Steve and am an IT guy for the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension and a member of the +eXtension Network Literacy Community of Practice. I took part in #xplrpln  and hope to participate, to at least some extent, in this conversation. I'm also starting the CopyrightX course (http://copyx.org/), so I don't know that I'll be as active as I'd like.

It's great to see all of the people, familiar and new, that share an interest in how networks can impact our work and learning.

+Jessica Beckendorf suggested that #netlit  might do a webinar  aimed at helping people develop their own productivity strategies. I know that this is something I get asked about regularly by Extension folks, and I find myself explaining that there is no one-size-fits-all strategy.

What do you think, would this be a valuable offering? Would you be willing to help plan it?
Are you not getting through your to-do list? The problem might not be your productivity, it might just be your priorities. If you learn how to prioritise your to-do list, you will get things done. We can tell you how to choose the right to-do list app, but that's all for naught if your list…

I've tried it all, and fell into the trap of trying to follow other people's systems too many times, so I thought it could be helpful to show people how to come up with their own productivity 'mashup', particularly using some tech tools :)

Stayed here on route to Seattle from Yellowstone. Seems like a newer facility with excellent sites and hookups. Sites are gravel, with a concrete patio and grass buffer. Some shade trees, though not fully mature yet. Bathrooms, showers, and laundry were clean and up to date. Less expensive than any KOA I've stayed at. Would definitely stay here again!

Can't say enough good! Our refrigerator died, and when I called Scott, he said he thought it might be under a Maytag recall. He offered to come out and put in a part temporarily until we could get the part from Maytag. Maytag said it would be seven to ten days! Luckily, Scott had the part on hand, and was able to replace it under the recall workorder. He was pleasant, professional, and helpful, and I will be recommending him to friends.
