More than likely this is down to a degree of 'human' error at some point rather than malicious. But if a system at this level, that has passed the various supposedly trustworthy certifications, can still be fundamentally flawed in its implementation and deployment, what hope is there for the many lesser systems that protect our information in the hands of third parties such as banks and insurance companies?

I suppose you call this "defying gravity with light" ...
In Matt Kenyon's “Supermajor,” oil appears to flow upward against gravity from a puddle into a can. This optical illusion is a stroboscopic effect similar to the one that makes car wheels seem to...

America's failure to cut off military aid to Egypt in response to the regime’s massacre of hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood supporters is as clear a recent case of diplomatic hypocrisy as one can find. For a country whose global leadership depends as much on its soft power as on its military might, that is dynamite.

The MV Plassey (carrying a cargo of whiskey and other stuff) ran aground just off Inisheer (Inis Oirr) in 1960. The crew was saved with the assistance of the islanders but a second storm a few weeks later washed the ship off the rock she first got stuck on and drove her ashore on the island to where she rests today.

This is the shipwreck that is shown in the opening credits of the TV series "Father Ted".

A caption "High and Dry" comes to mind!
