A new version of Da Vinci is available.
The focus of this release was on code refactoring to bring greater stability, and fixing several minor bugs.

Now that I'm spending more time on it, I have a couple of cool new features brewing up in the lab :)

You still haven't tried Da Vinci? Get it now! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/da-vinci-tools/pekljbkpgnpphbkgjbfgiiclemodfpen

I'm developing the Da Vinci Tools Export API v4 feature and I'm running into an odd issue I can't find info about.

If I look at the URL of any GA report using a segment, I can see the querystring parameter useg=something, where something can be builtin27, builtin102, userA80KdQyjRnGi (so in this case, two built-in segments (Bounced Sessions, Converters) as well as a user defined segment.

With the reporting v4 API, this would typically be done by passing on:
segments: [{segmentId: 'builtin27'}, {segmentId: 'builtin102'}, {segmentId: 'userA80KdQyjRnGi')

This doesn't work...

I tried gaid::builtin27, gaid::-builtin27 and other variations, but I always get the error "User does not have sufficient permissions for this advanced segment."

The segmentId used to be something like gaid::-2 and so on - but I can't find the match from v3 to v4.

Is this the Holly Grail? I'm surprised nobody mentioned it yet.

Cross device without user id? Yes indeed!

When a few other folks grouped together to launch this community several years ago, I don't think we suspected it would become such a useful resource. Moderators are doing a great job of sharing and collaborating - but it is also every members responsibility to ask and give back when they can. This is what will make this community continue to grow and become even more useful.

After years of involvement, I have decided to cede my "Owner" role and step down from moderating in order to focus on other important goals (https://davinci.tools). Even if this means I might not spend as much time here in the future, those who know me will attest of my passion and generosity when it comes to sharing my knowledge - so I won't be too far! :)

There are a number of communities where you can share & get support. I trust you will continue to share, collaborate, ask questions and be in good hands with the other moderators.

Best,
Stéphane

Behind the scenes, community moderators are fighting a constant battle with spam and irrelevant posts, and on top of that, they also find time to contribute and answer questions.

Who thought it wasn't possible to display Google Analytics goals funnels with Data Studio! Here are two examples of a work in progress with some complex funnels (disregard some data discrepancies as this is just test data).

GTM & GDPR

I'm working on a GDPR compliance solution where the user will have to opt-in. If not opted-in, my understanding is we need to enable AnonymizeIP and disable Display Advertising Feature, and we're good to continue to use GA (but obviously disable all other 3rd party trackers & pixels).

This can be done through a Google Analytics Settings variable where the field anonymizeIp is true/false accordingly.

However... Display Advertising Features is a single checkbox and we can't use a variable to set it on/off.

Any suggestions welcome (besides, of course, duplicating all the tags!)
