GTM & GDPR

I'm working on a GDPR compliance solution where the user will have to opt-in. If not opted-in, my understanding is we need to enable AnonymizeIP and disable Display Advertising Feature, and we're good to continue to use GA (but obviously disable all other 3rd party trackers & pixels).

This can be done through a Google Analytics Settings variable where the field anonymizeIp is true/false accordingly.

However... Display Advertising Features is a single checkbox and we can't use a variable to set it on/off.

Any suggestions welcome (besides, of course, duplicating all the tags!)

Data Retention is now visible (along with a small UX change) under GA admin. This is a direct requirement of GDPR which will affect everyone using GA, not only those in the EU.

JSON+LD Tag
Odd problem... suppose you have the following custom HTML tag:

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
...
"url": {{Page URL}},
...
}

If the built-in Page URL var is quoted, the string will be escaped, resulting in https:\/\/mysite.com\/somepath and a JSON+LD validation error

If the built-in Page URL isn't quoted, the result will be something like this: "url": google_tag_manager["GTM-W2N4NG"].macro('gtm163')

Any idea?

My alternative is to generate the whole thing on the fly with a JavaScript block, but I would prefer not to have to do this.

Have you ever worked with the DFP API? I wanted to create a nice dashboard for a client using DoubleClick for Publisher Small Business. There were a couple of challenges:
1) the DFP API is only available to GA 360 customers, so I had to leverage the power of Supermetrics
2) not all dimensions and metrics you see in DFP are available in the API, namely, the Yield Type info

The solution involves a rigorous taxonomy for Orders, Line Items and Ad Units, lots of calculated dimensions & metrics, and some Data Studio dashboard design creativity.

I'm pretty proud of the result, which will allow the client to go back to a year and filter in which ever way they want, including the website where the ad was presented and wether it was a mobile session or not.

Have a look at the 1st page of the report. The whole part at the top is report-level, so transition to other pages (by advertiser and ad units) is smooth and fast.
