The fun doesn't have to stop in the summer.
DENVER (AP) — In the old days, after the snow melted at ski resorts, all that remained was grass, a gondola and the occasional alpine slide.

+Forbes names Steamboat among top ski towns.
Few ski towns make it easier to shop for Stetsons or quality cowboy boots - and none have produced as many Winter Olympians. It is this mix of skiing and preserved Old West flair that makes Steamboat so charming, with an annual Winter Carnival that brings horse drawn shovel races to Main Street. Trademarked as “Ski Town U.S.A.” Steamboat also owns the rights to the term “Champagne Powder,” and besides snow, is famous for its natural hot springs, ...

Sometimes, you've just gotta stop and watch the clouds roll in.

It's bright green in the Yampa Valley, but there's still lots of snow left on the mountain.

You can only ski 11 hours a day. What should you do with the remaining 13 hours? Eat delicious food, of course. (And maybe get some sleep.)
The Colorado ski-town is seeing a community renaissance sparked by chefs, restaurateurs and farmers who make the Yampa Valley their home.

A sadly too short 4-day trip. The snow is amazing, living up to the considerable hype. Great variety of runs. We stayed at the Sheraton, which is not a luxury resort by any means, but it's ski in, ski out, which rocks.

Thanks so much, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp, for providing a stellar experience on the mountain. This year's experience topped all others (and they've been great!). The new dining venue (and upticked food choices), the spirit of the staff serving on the mountain, and, of course 30+ inches of snow in 3 days all combined to create a truly excellent experience. Our ski instructor was, simply, the best! Thanks for the great memories.

I want everyone to know that the guys behind the grill at Thunderhead Lodge really ROCK!!! They were so courteous and made me a special Gluten Free lunch, even though I was complaining.

Great ski area with poor management. Their "Christie Express Peak" was a disaster. Christie III has a far faster average ride time than the 6-Pack with all of its mechanical and stopping issues, but they never run Christie III unless it's crowded. I could go on about the Zoo they call a "Base Area" but that's a whole other problem.
