With just the pair of glasses on their faces, the researchers were able to successfully prevent the software from recognising their faces at all, as well as impersonate each other and celebrities including Milla Jovovich and Carson Daly.

"Unlike a number of chatbots on the market today, SnapTravel isn’t a fully automated solution – arguably, to its advantage. The “bot” part of the service aids with onboarding and can answer users’ simpler questions, but when things get tricky, human agents are able to step in. For example, if you booked a non-refundable hotel but your flight gets cancelled due to weather, an agent would respond to your questions and try to help, rather than leaving you to deal with an unsympathetic bot."

"When writing stories about exciting new developments, also consult an AI researcher that is old, or at least middle aged. Someone who was doing AI research before it was cool, or perhaps even before it was uncool, and so has seen a full cycle of AI hype. Chances are that person can tell you about which old idea this new advance is a (slight?) improvement on." Yep, please do. Ah, btw, I'm not middle-aged but I can help too ;)

"Let’s face it: millennials don’t like face-to-face interaction. They prefer chatting with someone rather than having a phone call or even a face-to-face conversation. But millennials are growing up, and we’re becoming the target market for a lot of businesses, and the customer is always right. Also, everyone has a smartphone now, I’m sure even your grandma does. And with this democratization to the access to mobile technologies, it’s easier to reach your target audience from different platforms other than traditional websites."
