I've seen a few musicals (west side story, sister act, anything goes and a bugs bunny movie with the nj symphony playing the score.) The productions were Broadway quality material. For that I'd give it 5 stars. But the ushers are unprofessional and rude. Not even sure what their job is since you still have to find your seat on your own(not Broadway quality behavior.) All they do is give you a program and be rude to your 80plus yr old mother when she tried to change her seat.

Cute theater, but the staff there seems annoyed people are attending. Saw Jewel last friday and have a lovely usher bark at us to get to our seats despite there being no rush 20 minutes before the opener. Anyone who performs here, you will be recorded by attendees. Even after Jewel commented that the flash photography was bothering her the ushers couldn't be bothered to do anything. I guess this place is good if you are looking for a job where you just sit around for a few hours. In short, stick to venues run by professionals, High School Auditoriums have higher standards.

I am a big fan of theater, and have visited many, and I say without a doubt this is the worst one ever!!! The building is OK, but the staff are incredible rude people! Stay away and find a play somewhere else, do not let them ruin your evening!

Its a nice theatre. Seen allot of shows here. And i have read how the saved this place and than rehab'd it a few times, like 10 years ago. My big beef is the seating. For a newly redone theatre, the seats are very close together. If your big like me, be prepared to sit completely still without hitting the person next to you. I compare this to NJPAC in which the seating is great.

I will never attend another concert at the State. Being a wheelchair user, when a concert begins, everybody stands. If you're a wheelchair user, the only thing that you will see are the backs of people. When I suggested that wheelchairs be seated down in front, I was referred to as a fire hazard. Imagine that, being referred to as a fire hazard. As if I were an old broken piece of furniture. NEVER AGAIN.
