We started building our Oak cottage almost 20 years ago. Mr Don made this beautiful hand forged head board.

The peace and quiet was greatly needed. The room was spotless, the breakfast was incredible, the hot tub/patio area was inviting, the walking path was entertaining, we had a great time. We won't wait another two years for the next trip. Don and Deb, thank you and your family for opening up your lives to those of us that need time to "breathe".

This was our first time ever staying at a Bed and Breakfast! Everything was done with excellence! We were greeted right when we got there by Don. He showed us around and the site was gorgeous. I also purchased the romance package since it was our anniversary weekend! Everything was exceptional. Deb's food was presented well and tasted fantastic!! We had everything we need and the hospitality was very nice and accommodating. We will use this as our spot from now on.

We were going to have a regular wedding, but grew tired of dealing with people. So we eloped to the Star of Texas Bed and Breakfast. I had found it online and chose it based on the pictures and reviews. I was not disappointed. The other cottages I had looked at were overly decorated and very tacky in my opinion. Every cottage at this B&B is very tasteful. We stayed in the Oak Cottage and it was perfect. The linens are crisp, it smells amazing, and the bathroom is lovely. As for the elopement, it was exactly what we were looking for. We arrived and spoke with Don and Deb for a moment. We confirmed where we would say the vows(the Moon Gate-rock arch). Don escorted us to our cottage, where we got ready. Then we were escorted to the Moon Gate where Don gave a beautiful ceremony and Deb started taking pictures. We cut our cute little cake and sipped our champagne. Then we continued with pictures. She took whatever pics we wanted and put about 50 on a CD. Then we were left alone to walk the grounds, take a dip in the hot tub or go eat in town. In the morning, Don brought our fantastic gourmet breakfast. We will definitely go again. You couldn't ask for a more secluded, beautiful scene, perfect for a wedding and mini honeymoon. My husband and I were extremely happy with our decision to stay here.

This is a great, out of the way location to have a get away. The service is exceptional, and the location quiet and peaceful. Many eclectic collections and tasteful meldings of natural and whimsical artwork abound. You can experience nature on a Texas state nature trail, but still hang out in a hot tub, and a nice room with TV if you like. The breakfast is great, and you can drive a short distance to area attractions. If you are looking for places to continue your hiking adventures, try Lake Brownwood State Park, the Pecan Bayou Canoeing trail, and the city of Brownwood. If you are looking for seclusion, peacefulness, and a place to reconnect, this is it.

We are currently staying in the wildrose retreat, and although we initially had some reservations about the long drive from Dallas, we have come to find the the trip has been well worth the journey! We first experienced a beautiful drive through the countryside and were able to see a beautiful side of Texas! The amount of care and detail put into making our stay at the B&B enjoyable has been above and beyond. We love he private cottage and the delicious homemade breakfast. Deb and Don have been so accommodating and we cannot wait to return! -Laura and Mike

We are so glad that you made the drive, Texas has some of the most beautiful roads to travel, and sometimes at the end of the long gravel road awaits something special for you. So happy that you enjoyed yourselves and hope to see you another time. Thanks for the review, tell your friends about us, and that 3 hrs isn't to long. Deb

My wife and I wanted to find a peaceful, pretty location for a small and intimate wedding. It didn't take us long at all to decide Star of Texas was exactly what we were looking for. The location is a culmination of art and rustic beauty, and when paired with the helpful and welcoming personalities of it's owners, Don and Debbie Morelock, the atmosphere is simply idyllic. We were sad to leave, and have already made plans to return.

Will, thanks for the review. I love the description of art and rustic beauty, that truly is what we are here. We hope that you all will come again and celebrate each. Deb

We stayed in the wildrose, it was heaven. We had a long way to travel 3 1/2 hrs, but it was sooooo worth the drive. The love that Deb and Don put into this place is amazing. Everything was breathtaking. We had the most romantic relaxing getaway of our lives. The breakfasts that Deb prepared were so good and she took the time to make a beautiful presentation. This was truly the best experince of our lives. Thank you Deb and Don for everything, we cant wait to return to your peaceful oasis. Laurie and Gilbert

Amazing experience. The wedding was delightful, romantic, and focused on our commitment to each other. Don and Deb (owners) are world class. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was heavenly. I would give it 100 stars if I could.

Wedding Oak Winery, is a wonderful winery, just a short 30 minute drive for our guest to go and enjoy. We love the folks there and know that you will enjoy their beautifully restored building and great wines.

You will love the food and fun atmosphere at Steve's. My favorite is always the soup of the day, thick, rich and creamy with lots of spicy taste. The sandwiches are all great and huge! Go for the tea of the day as it will always refresh you. Just get there early as there is always a waiting list to eat, it's a small great little spot for a hearty lunch. Just wish they were open on the weekends for more of my guest, but those that come during the week, you don't want to miss out on this.

Common Grounds Coffeehouse, a great place to meet with friends or just hang out and read a book. The customer service is awesome, the food really good and the coffee is always fresh. Recommend the soup of the day and they also make great breakfast burritos. Check them out, great people.

Their chocolates are wonderful and worth every penny, since they are hand made of quality chocolate. Only problem is they are over an hour away, but maybe that is good for me! Please visit them.
