On Monday, 4 December 2017 the United Ancient Order (UAO) of Druids' Grand Grove of California and Chapter assembled at the Odd Fellows Hall, 467 Main Street in Placerville to re-open historic California Grove #1, originally founded here in 1860 by Fredrick Sieg. Seven new members were inducted in the new Grove and officers installed during a private, formal ceremony presided over by Nobel Grand Arch John Rainwater of Fulton.

Members of the Grand Circle of California, presided over by Grand Secretary Linda Andersen of Gualala, also met simultaneously to consider formation of a new Circle in El Dorado County. Afterwards attendees gathered in a common room to celebrate the re-opening of the 157 year old "Hangtown" Grove with a tradition of food and drink. The Druids of California and Grand Circle also participated in Placerville's "39th Hangtown Christmas Parade," held the day before, with a float featuring a replica of the nationally-unique Druids Monument located along the parade route at the intersection of Main Street and Cedar Ravine Road.

If you would like to lend assistance and/or participate in an upcoming event of the UAO of Druids of California, please contact John Rainwater at 707.217.3773 for more information. If you are interested in membership and/or becoming an officer of California Grove #1, please fill-out an application at the Historic Cary House Hotel, 300 Main Street, Placerville, Ca.

CALIFORNIA HEART & SOUL
Biography of Annie Caudina Morris
by Stanley W. Morris

I had always thought of my Mom as being really good at many things in life: family, kids, budgeting, cooking and baking, religion, ethics, and coming up with great ideas for Halloween costumes. But most of all, the one thing that I had always thought my Mom to be really good at, better at than anyone else that I knew in life, was at living large―so typical of the California Heart and Soul.
