You've read the entire internet on the topic (because you have ample time at 3am when you're up with your baby) and your darling little angel still won't Shut. Their. Eyes.

What can you do? The Magical Book of Baby Unicorn Sleep says your baby should be sleeping 75 hours per day in another room with no effort on your part! What are you doing wrong?

Nothing. You are doing nothing wrong. Join me for a half hour chat about why your baby doesn't sleep, why that might actually be a GOOD thing, and how to save your sanity without doing anything of questionable morality.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Stacy Spensley. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Elimination Communication (EC) was the one thing I declared too hippie dippy, even for me.

....until my son was 8 months old. He was out of diapers by 23 months only doing EC part-time. You don't have to be a stay-at-home mom or do EC full-time.

Join me to chat about how to get started, a few tips, and answers to your questions.

If you're pregnant or have recently given birth, you're probably thinking about getting back to your pre-baby weight. How long will (or should) it take? What should you do to lose the weight? What if you're breastfeeding - will weight loss affect your supply? What can you do to protect it?

Join health coach Stacy Spensley and maternal nutrition coach Kelly Bach for a concise but info-packed chat on getting your body back after baby. We'll include a healthy snack and meal planning handout you can download, too!

You call your elbow an elbow, so why not call your genitals by their proper names? This is a complex subject, but it can be handled in a straightforward and simple way.

Teacher, author, and parenting ninja Rachel Rainbolt from SageParenting.com joins me to discuss why honesty is the best policy and how to best accomplish it with your kids.

Knowing both of us, there may be sarcasm, strong language, and general hilarity. You've been warned. Hope you'll join us!

If you're been diagnosed with GD, you may have attended a hospital class on GF management. After several moms complained that the class used scare tactics, didn't offer practical advice, and offered meal plans full of foods they don't/can't eat, we wanted to give an alternative approach.

Join health coach +Stacy Spensley and nutritional therapist +Francesca Orlando for an info-packed half hour. You'll learn:
- methods to prevent gestation diabetes in the first place
- management options (diet and pharmaceutical)
- and myths about GD

Let us know your questions and we'll try to answer those too. If you can't join us live, the Hangout will be recorded.

Join Stacy Spensley, holistic health coach and semi-crunchy mama, with special guest Elaine McGhee from Thrive Momma to talk about going back to work after your baby is born.

We'll discuss:
- the challenges and obstacles facing most working moms
- practical solutions to prepare for your return
- how to manage the emotional side of leaving your baby

If you're pregnant, have a newborn, or even a toddler and plan to go back to work, we'd love to have you join us! If you're already back at work, we'd love for you to chime in, or possibly learn some new tricks to help your day go more smoothly.

Can't wait to "see you" at the Hangout!

If your baby is at or approaching the time to start solid foods, you may be wondering what the best approach is. Should you start at 4 months or 6 months? With rice cereal or whole foods? Purees or finger foods?

Join me to learn what the current recommendations are and what you may want to consider in choosing the right path for you and your baby. We'll talk about the right age to start and why, the Baby Led Weaning approach to solids, and what foods are best to start.

Julie, to answer your questions as best I can:
1.) You'll see her do it when she's ready. Many girls develop fine motor skills earlier than boys (not all!) but my son didn't really get his until maybe 8 months. I think we did offer some puffs since they basically dissolve and didn't pose a choking risk, but also as they break stuff up and spit it out, they're making their own smaller pieces to play with.

2.) That totally depends on the baby. Some get super into food early, others just toy with it until 12-15 months! She's nursing first and getting plenty of milk which is still the vast majority of her nutrition until at least a year.

3.) Some people like to wait on grains because babies don't have a full amount of amylase (digestive enzyme for carbohydrate) until closer to a year. Considering how much they actually digest, I didn't worry too much about it. I offered him oatmeal if I was eating oatmeal. We did eggs and dairy around 7-8 months, I think (no history of allergies). Lentils or hamburger I'd say you can start too if she's enjoying eating. Worst case scenario, she won't eat them! =)
