Digital vs. Film

Thoughts?

+PetaPixel: "I also learned that each film scanner will impart it’s own bias on the scan, some of these biases should be corrected. The “ethical” argument of how much film should be digitally post-processed came to mind, as well as the want to maintain as much of the character that the film stock has. To me, if I’m shooting film, going out and getting it developed, picking it up, then scanning it only to drastically tweak colors, why not shoot digital?"
I’ve been a user of VSCO Film for Lightroom for several years now. I’ve been happy with the results, but I wanted to see how close VSCO's settings are to a

It doesn't. It has been done and redone many times by people who know what they are doing. This guy doesn't and he admits it. I'll try to find links. They don't compare VSCO to film though. Just film vs. digital.

Help Free Kaavan, the chained elephant, from 28 years of solitary confinement in Pakistan's Murghazar Zoo

I don't know if this will really do anything, but if it brings more awareness to the sad conditions around the world, then I hope that's a start.
Meet Kaavan, the solitary elephant, through the eyes of a visitor: "I happened to be in Islamabad for a vacation and happened to visit Murghazar zoo. I was astonished and sad to see the elephant was standing at one place throughout the time (I spent almost 45 minutes in the zoo) and his legs were all chained up. He was moving his head from left to right continuously and not once I saw that he stopped.... the first thought that came to my mind was...

Gotta start somewhere I guess. I am unfamiliar with that area, and no one is petitioning to change anything over there that I can see other than this. I'd be happy to share any humanitarian efforts for the people of Pakistan, so please tag me if you know of anything.

Quantum Weirdness and Local Realism

This stuff fascinates me, even though I have to read it about four times before I finally get it.
A century-long debate about whether quantum mechanics described reality or masked a deeper layer, as Einstein suggested, has concluded – quantum reality won

Social Media Etiquette: What NOT To Post

I wish I could post stuff about a few situations I'm in, but I won't. I'm doing everything that I can and trying to let the rest go.
Before you hit that ‘publish’ button, do me a favor: run through this list of the top 10 things you should never post on social media.

Why Service Industry Businesses Should Be On Pinterest

"Pinterest is a must-have social media network for ecommerce  brands because it's easy for users to search and click-through to purchase. But every brand should be using Pinterest, even service companies. Here’s why:

-The half-life of a Pinterest post is 1,600 times longer than that of a Facebook post.
-On average, users spend 14.2 minutes pinning every time they sign in.
-Pinterest grew 97 percent last year, making it the fastest growing social media network in 2014."

Hotels and Social Media

I recently responded to a post here on the plus from a local lodging company and have yet to receive a reply. If you're gonna make the effort to post to social platforms, you should be ready to answer questions, engage and have a conversation.

Otherwise, you're just printing a brochure and tossing it into the wind. Anyone else have a good experience with a lodging company? I want to see examples of some that are doing it right.

Social Hospitality: How 8 Hotels Engage Guests On & Offline
The hospitality industry relies heavily on word-of-mouth marketing, most of which takes place online nowadays. By not being involved in those conversations, there's big a big risk.

A 2013 Nielsen survey found that of those who used social media to research travel plans, only 48% stuck with their original plans—33% switched hotels.

A focused approach to social media can result in a stronger brand, greater exposure, and better relationships with first-time and repeat guests. Here is how some of the hospitality industry’s leaders are using social media to go above and beyond to create exceptional experiences.

Big Destroyer Paranoia

The wife is furious as to what the critters have done to our garden this summer. No cat means they've had ample opportunity to do as they wish.

Look at how they just kicked dirt out and made room for their tunnels! The wife has placed traps out and now she's acting like Bill Murray from Caddy Shack.

Unable to Remove Collections from Profile

Since I'm not buying into the collections from Google+, I'd like to remove that from my profile. But, there is no way to remove that as of this time.

And I still can't manage my business page via mobile, but we have this useless feature that I can't get rid of. Thanks +Google +Google+ Developers

+Debashish Samaddar had a good breakdown of how things are currently: https://plus.google.com/+DebashishSamaddar/posts/6xmcFHu3D3f

I don't have the time to curate and feed separate lists. I'd rather put that time and energy into a website that will make me money.

I live in Breckenridge, Colorado and love to take photos and interact via new media.  I like to ski, hike, run, paddle and explore the mountains any chance I get.

I started out working three jobs just to live where I wanted to be.  I've worked as a ski / snowboard instructor, bar doorman, spa / healthclub, snowmaker, town rec center, snowmobile guide, lifeguard, climbing wall guy, nordic center, and outdoor educator.

Then, I met my wife and became a small business entrepreneur.  I have been progressive in identifying the niche needs in particular markets and industries.

I have many ideas for my field of work and hope to use technology to save people time, money, and have a great experience solving their problems and meeting their needs.

Join me in my journey to learn best practices, the latest technology, and how to market effectively.  I have just created an online resource and wedding blog for our local mountain area
