Hello! I am helping to build out my 12 year old son's first gaming rig, and I am down to the last four critical components: mobo, CPU, RAM (no more than 8GB at this time), and video. Looking for suggestions for these remaining components.
No desire to overclock. Will be running Windows 8.x (moving to 10 when available).
Trying to keep costs down (preferably around $500 USD total, maximum). Prefer Intel over AMD (mostly due to familiarity). Will not be doing anything completely hardcore with it -- just ability to play games via Steam without issue -- no other CPU/RAM intensive workstation-like performance needed other than your typical web browsing/internet apps.
Will be connecting via wifi, so perhaps integrated wifi would be nice (currently running "extreme n" dlink router at home, but may upgrade in near future).
Any suggestions for the critical 4 pieces? I know video is more important than CPU for gaming, and 8GB of dual channel RAM is the "sweet spot", but beyond that I haven't built a PC in over 8 years, so I am not up to speed on the current tech.
