My teenage daughters are letting me share their recent struggles in getting along. It's a situation I take seriously as a mother, and it makes me wonder: how do you encourage your kids to get along?
I'm a big believer that nothing is inevitable in parenting. Sure, there are common themes across all families, and certain issues that – while challenging – are a normal part of the landscape. But I am not one to shrug my shoulders and offer a “kids will be kids” response to clichéd behavior ...

My son starts his 2nd season of tackle football soon. It's interesting to reflect on this post I wrote a year ago, just as everything was new to us. Has your child ever become in a sport or activity that surprised you?
When one of the Team Moms came around at my son's football game last weekend selling buttons with the kids' pictures on them, I excitedly grabbed a few bucks to buy two (one for me, one for the proud grandparents). my son's football picture on a button. My son looks so handsome in his picture!

The title is a little tongue-in-cheek, but really - here are at least 4 reasons you shouldn't dread your first mammogram. #AmandasArmy
I have a history of breast cancer on my mother's side of the family, so – honestly - I should have had my first mammogram a few years ago. My doctor kept recommending it, and I kept putting it off. When I turned 40 in September, my doctor's suggestions quickly turned to insistence.

Have you ever tried to find a cute, modest, perfectly-fitting dress? It's not easy! Fortunately, a friend recommended +eShakti when she knew I was looking for bridesmaids dresses. Here's our review! http://thesceniclife.com/2014/05/21/eshakti-dress-review/
In planning my daughter's April wedding, one of the items high on our priority list was to find bridesmaids dresses that were cute, modest, comfortable, and functional for more than one wear. Have you ever tried finding all of those qualities in a bridesmaid's dress? It's not easy!

Hazel and Gus are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them — and us – on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.

In talking with my teens on Mother's Day, I learned a valuable lesson. Now I just need to remember (and live!) it.
>> New Post: Why Moms Should Ride Roller Coasters
During this past Mother's Day dinner with family, my kids decided to go around the table and share their favorite memories of me. The conversation quickly turned to a trip we took last summer to the Universal Orlando Resort. My daughter Maddy laughed as she remembered how fun it was to watch me ...

Story
Introduction
I'm a lifestyle blogger & social media enthusiast who also works-from-home as a content marketer for a small agency. I'm (not quite) balancing my activities and ambitions with raising 4 kids at home and worrying about my grown daughter, who is married and away at college. When I'm not working, shuffling through housework, making memories with my kids, or taking a nap, I'm probably catching up with my favorite shows or pop culture news. We call the Portland metro area home.
