Recap: Day 2 of the #io15request program

For our fourth year in a row, we had a great time answering questions and requests about I/O, coming in from every corner of globe. We already shared our favorites from Day 1 (https://goo.gl/PvLJBq); here are some highlights from Day 2:

1. No Google I/O would be complete without Google designer +Matias Duarte sporting one of his famous shirts, so thanks to +Jib for the suggestion. https://goo.gl/nVrFBN
2. +Jacek N. Kozioł heard about Google Cardboard’s new button and was interested in more details. We were happy to provide a close-up look. https://goo.gl/5l1Fbf
3. Educator +Lisa A Williams passed along a request from one of her students for a photo of him next to an Android. The friendly robot in our photo is a kid too! https://goo.gl/NQAom1

This year, we received a total of 145 requests between Google+ and Twitter - you can see all the photos we posted in this album (https://goo.gl/KHSTG4). Thanks to everyone who participated. We hope to see you again next year!
-Your #io15request team!

Introducing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic

Our happiest Google+ users are those who connect with others around shared interests and passions. So we set out to give people a place to express the things they love. Today, we’re announcing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic.

Every collection is a focused set of posts on a particular topic, providing an easy way for you to organize all the things you’re into. Each collection can be shared publicly, privately, or with a custom set of people. Once you create your first collection, your profile will display a new tab where other people can find and follow your collections.

Posts in collections you follow will appear in your Home stream, with a link to easily jump right into the collection so you can get to similar content from that author. Collections give you a great way to find more of the stuff you love from the people you follow.

Collections is available on Android and the web, and iOS is coming later. For Android users, make sure to update your Google+ app to get access to Collections.

For inspiration on interesting topics, check out our Featured Collections page here: g.co/collections

Create your collections today and share what you love.

#MakeItFair  for Men.

The issue of gender disparity in film production is not anything new, but this time, women working in Hollywood are poking fun at the topic.

In a new video for the #MakeItFair project, in partnership with +Geena Davis Institute, women gather to create a dialogue about the inequalities they witness every single day.

The Battle of Facebook and Google+

[INFOGRAPHIC] - a bit old but some things still stand.

"Lately, there has been a lot of buzz about the competition between Facebook and Google+, so we thought we would lay all the facts out on the table.

With over 350 million active users, Google+ surpassed Twitter and is coming in at second place behind Facebook. Who will come out on top? And most importantly, which network is the most beneficial to your brand?

Both networks excel when it comes to building communities and encouraging engagement, but in very different ways.

Facebook is best for fostering personal relationships with friends and family.
On the other hand, Google+ excels at fueling common interests and finding intellectual matches, (since its audience is very technically oriented).

Google+ is all about connecting and networking with individuals you do not already know, while Facebook’s primary focus is re-connecting with the past.

- If your goal is to deliver information, spark discovery, and foster conversation Google+ is your go-to network, (especially for B2B purposes)."
