I love walking outside in the rain when everybody else is too busy trying to stay dry to pay attention to their surroundings.

How do you fall in love with a city? just like how you fall in love with a person? Sometimes it is difficult to tell why and how....My love affair with Paris has started long ago..perhaps during my first visit to Epcot Center in Disney World's Showcase of Nations, when I saw the 180 degree movie of France and instantly I thought it was the most beautiful and romantics place in the world. But why is Paris romantic, how do you define romantic? The dictionary defines romantic as :Affectedly or extravagantly emotional; Not compatible with reality...so do I think of Paris as some place imaginary? a place very different from the prosaic world I live in?
Sometimes it is difficult to say why we are particularly attracted to one place and not to others? Just like why do we fall in love with one particular person..." Why do you love me?" This is a question I could never answer easily. If Paris were a person, he would ask me the same thing and I could offer no answer. If love is a deep, tender ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person or an object, then I am definitely in love with Paris. But why? Maybe because I love a city of art and culture, of old architecture. Then why do I not love New York as much? After all, I spent my growing years in New York. I used to walk from East side to the West side carrying my art supplies, stopped by the Deli to get a Bagel with lox for lunch. Spent many hours admiring the great works of art in MOMA and Metropolitan Museum, and Museum of Natural History because that's the museum my father, being a scientist, loved. I could still remember all those Mostly Mozart concerts in the summer and how much fun it was to go skating in Central Park in the winter. And of course I love Soho and the Village. Yet for some unknown reasons, I never considered myself as a New Yorker. There is always a sense of alienation, I could not feel I belonged there. But Paris is different, even though my French is poor, I feel right at home, there is an easy familiarity, a feeling of comfort, I could walk down the narrow streets of St Germain like a place I've known so well, stroll along the Seine and watch the reflection of the multi-colored lights on the water like an Impressionist painting. I know I am in love, there is no particular reasons why, it is just a feeling, perhaps it is love.
