Get Your Free Long Exposure Photography Guide: http://shp.photo/longexposure

Most people only worry about making sure the shutter speed is fast enough for a sharp photo, or curse the camera when the shutter speed isn't fast enough and the photo turns out to be a blurry mess.

But shutter speed is more than sharp photos, the other side of the fast shutter speeds you use for sharp photos is long exposure photography.

What's great about long exposure photography is that you can still take sharp photos, but the results of long exposure photography can often be magical, and in this video I'm going to explain exactly how to set yourself up for successful long exposure photography.

Get Your Free Depth Of Field Guide: http://shp.photo/depthoffield

Depth of field is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in your image that are in focus.

It's the difference between having the subject in focus with everything else out of focus, and having the subject and substantial portions of the background in focus.

The Aperture is an opening in your lens, and you can vary the size of the aperture opening to change how much light you capture for a photo, but the size of the aperture also affects the depth of field because the size changes how the light is focused by the lens.

In this video I’m going to explain how the size of the aperture affects the focusing of the light and share with you my super simple trick for remembering what aperture setting to use when trying to control your depth of field.

Pentax is the underdog of the DSLR world, even though they consistently make great cameras for great prices.

So is the Pentax KP a great camera? It’s a looker, that’s for sure, but it’s also very confusing as far as where it goes in Pentax’s lineup, especially when you consider the launch price of $1100, the same launch price of the Pentax K-3.

So Mark and I sat down to discuss the KP and our thoughts on this new camera design, the camera’s feature set and whether or not the ISO of 819,200, the current highest ISO available on any camera, will be at all usable.

Get your free ISO cheat sheet: http://shp.photo/iso

Let’s take a real look at ISO

Noise is a random fluctuation in an electronic signal, and those fluctuations come from a number of sources.

The fluctuations show up in photos as pixels that are brighter or darker than they should be, and/or are the wrong color.

Noise is present in every electrical signal, and in every photo you take, but the more you amplify a signal, the worse the noise gets.

That increase in the signal to noise ratio makes the random pixel fluctuations a larger proportion of your image, making it look noisy.

This is what photographers are constantly freaking out about.

And this has got to stop.

Get Your Free Cheat Sheet: http://shp.photo/iamshooting

One of the most common questions I get asked is, "How do I know what settings to use when shooting in Manual Mode?"

Or, "What settings should I use when taking a picture of "Insert photography subject here"

This is the $64,000 question, and over my years of teaching I've developed a super simple method for choosing the right settings for your photo every single time.

It's called the "I Am Shooting" method, and I guarantee if you use this method that you'll master manual mode in no time! Watch the video see how it works.

The shoot itself was amazing though I had TONS of technical trouble with the live stream, and now I'm editing photos! That's right, I'm editing photos from the January live shoot we did with Otto Ott where we turned Angela into a cyborg!
