I'm going to run a little experiment on the SpyParty twitter account (https://twitter.com/SpyParty
) this week. I've been talking to other indies about what the right frequency to tweet (and do fb updates) is, and the consensus seems to be that only 5-10% of your followers actually see any given tweet, and that for big announcements, tweeting the same news multiple times at different times is the right thing. I really don't like annoying people, but I still get people saying "oh, I didn't know the beta was open" or "wow, the new art looks great". :) I guess this is more true than ever: http://chrishecker.com/No_One_Knows_About_Your_Game
As for fb & g+, other developers seem to say that only once or twice a week is the right thing, and make them longer posts. A while back I asked here if posting all the tweets was the right thing, and the commenters said "yes!" (I need to find that post), but others are saying it's not a good thing.
Who knows? For now I'll keep my fb "strategy" the same, but I'll probably experiment with that as well at some point.
