Have you ever wondered where speed dating was invented. You probably weren't thinking the lovely culture hub of Vietnam, where speed dating has been a tradition for decades. If you fancy a spot of speed dating whilst discovering the broad culture of this amazing country, then take a look at one of the Vietnamese courses at Sprachenatelier.

Christmas eve is celebrated in many countries worldwide usually through a midnight mass, and in many countries such as Germany is the evening when christmas presents are exchanged. It's certainly Santa's busiest day with over 355km to cover to reach everyone's chimneys.

best school I ve found till now. People at reception are friendly, and they always try to find the best solution for everyone. My teacher is really nice and amazing lessons are better to improuve the language (deutsch). He is mothertongue and he speaks always german but he try to give you the meaning always and help you if something is not clear, to understand. really happy in this school :)

I spent an awesome summer as an intern at Sprachenatelier! The school has a really warm atmosphere and the people I got to work with are great. Through organizing different cultural activities I now know Berlin so much better and also found many new friends from all over the world.

I have been studying German at the Sprachenatelier Berlin for almost a year - and I thoroughly enjoyed it! First of all, I really enjoyed my morning intensive course: All of the teachers were very nice and extremely supportive - the course itself was well structured and the extra one month exam preparation course I took in the afternoon enabled me to enter the "TestDaF" exam with great confidence. Besides their language courses Sprachenatelier Berlin also offers cultural activities open to all students. During summer (July and August) there were events almost every day, whereas the rest of the year the so called "Kulturmittwoch / Cultural Wednesday" took place: excursions to the Berlin Wall, the Stasi Museum, trips to the Reichstag, grilling and picnic in Volkspark Friedrichshain as well as beach volley ball in Sprachenatelier's courtyard, just to mention a few. Moreover, I really liked Sprachenatelier's flexibility in terms of the different time slots they offer for their German courses. When I started part time work it was very easy to move into one of the evening German classes. Sprachenatelier Berlin is a very vibrant and friendly place to learn German - their staff is really helpful and I have made some good friends there.

It's a medium size private language school with around 30 classrooms for 10-12 students. They teach there Spanish, English, Italian, Swedish, French and of course German.

Like any private language school, Sprachenatelier has its good and bad points. I started with A1 German courses there and am now in B2, so 7 months total. I have been going every morning, 3.5 hours a day, so I know the school pretty well. Good points: --The teachers - there are some excellent German teachers at the school, who know their grammar inside out, give interesting lessons with a communicative approach, and are willing to go the extra mile and help students. --The staff - everyone I have met at the school has been friendly and helpful, and they have a fair, flexible way of handling payments. If you need to take a break, you can make a "Pause" of an entire week and extend your time at the school accordingly. It works out well, especially when you are there for many months. --The students: For the most part, the students who come to this school are young (20s and 30s, mostly), international people who are great to talk to and often like to go to social activities together outside of class. I have made some good friends through this school, which definitely helps when you are new in town. --The course: I found the courses to be helpful, getting me from absolutely no German to a working level (speaking, understanding, reading and writing) within a few months. The best teachers did a lot of review and practice in the courses so the material you are learning really sticks. Bad points: --The building: despite its charm as a historic Berlin "Altbau", many classrooms in the building unfortunately are not the most comfortable. It gets hot in summer, but you can't really open the windows on the street side, because the traffic noise is way too loud. Many of the classrooms are a bit too small. --Changing classes/teachers: If you begin your courses anytime other than the beginning of summer, expect a lot of commotion and moving around when the summer students arrive. I had a problem with needing to change classes because new students came in who had a lower level than the students who had been there since February. As a language teacher myself, I know you can never have a class of students who are exactly at the same level because they all have different backgrounds and have learned different things, but still, it was a bit chaotic during the summer months. --Poor teachers: Although in general there are more good teachers than poor ones at this school, I had 2 teachers who did not teach well and gave boring, unhelpful lessons. I had to change courses two times because of this, but the staff were helpful and after the changes I was satisfied. --Lack of course books: This school gives you an empty binder and your teacher gives you photocopies of coursebooks and exercises each day. The advantage of this is that the teacher has the flexibility to add in additional material from other sources or skip around in the book. The disadvantage is that I didn't get a sense of the course as a whole, and couldn't look ahead to get a sense of what was coming up next. Yes I could have purchased the book separately, but that's an additional expense. In all, I can recommend Sprachenatelier, but I can't compare it to anywhere else in Berlin, so there may in fact be better and less expensive options out there. Hope you find this review helpful! Didn't like the classes. They change teacher each 3 days and there is Lots of noise. Is a lot better the public school that is just in front crossing the street (And a lot cheaper). If you get dragged by their slogan, this is a wannabe cultural school, where the *only* cultural part is that they do little boring meetings on fridays and walks around the city. But for that you get a much better cultural grasp joining any of the free-tours in Berlin by real guides.
