Routine Maintenance
The problem with lifestyle-caused diseases is that the damage happens slowly, often without even a hint of a symptom.

Just because you don’t hurt anywhere doesn’t mean you don’t have issues. Health issues that will come back to BITE YOU at a later date.

We see this all the time.

When your symptoms finally show up and we get the call, the most common refrain is, 'But I didn't do anything.'

Sure, bending down to pick up the newspaper shouldn't reduce a grown man to tears, but I’ve seen this time and time again.

But the countless years of ignoring the nagging aches and pains did the damage. You have to take care of your body if you want it to last. It’s no different than taking care of your car. Only thing is you cannot TRADE IN your body for a new one, 50 years later.

Bending over was merely the last straw. Ironically, the same people who subscribe to the "don't-fix-it-if-it's-not-broken" philosophy will fuss over their lawns, baby their car with fresh oil and filter every 3,000 miles and religiously replace their smoke detector batteries to make sure their family is safe.

So, why is a simple, "Honey, I think you should go in for a checkup" met with determined and unexplainable resistance!

5 Health Tips for the Holiday Season by Lisa Druxman, M.A.

Tip #1: Shop Well For Yourself
It is more important than ever to stock your kitchen with healthy foods. Have healthy snacks handy. The more convenient they are, the more likely you are to eat them. Instead of thinking about what you shouldn't eat, promise to eat your 3 to 5 servings of vegetables each day.

Tips #2: Schedule Your Exercise
Your schedule will be very hectic this holiday season. Schedule your workouts just as you would any other appointment. It's ok if you can't make it to class, but make sure that you get some activity in at least three days per week.

Tip #3: Just Say No
You probably aren't aware how much extra food you consume just from people offering it to you. A sample at the market here, an extra cookie at an office party there and it all adds up. Just think twice before you take that food and decide if you really want it.

Tip #4: Skip the Baking
Do you make baked goods for giving? Chances are you eat much of what you bake. Who wouldn't? Instead make non-food gifts, or prepare ingredients for baked goods and put them in pretty jars--let your gift recipient bake it up. That way, they can eat it when they want it and you don't have to be tempted in the kitchen.

Tip #5: Hydrate
Keep your water bottle with you at all times. You should be drinking eight, 8-oz glasses of water each day. One handy trick is to buy a 64 ounce water jug. Fill it up in the morning and know that you need to finish it by the end of the day.

The holidays are in full swing, and we’re turning up the heat at the office this month! temperatures may be low outside, but our spirits are high as we are getting into the holiday spirit! There’s just a different kind of energy in the air. I think it’s valuable during the holidays to take some time to reflect in quietude about the year that has passed and the year that is to come.

As much as I love this time of year, it seems we often have an influx of “Holiday Syndrome” patients in our office in November & December. You know, the people falling of ladders while hanging lights, slips and falls on icy pavement, and the worst offender…brain freeze headaches from snowball fights!

I just want to take a moment to say “Thank You” to all of our friends and patients who continue to support us. You are part of our extended family, and I want to give a personal “Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, or whichever celebration you choose in which to partake!”

Whether you suit your fancy by baking yummy holiday treats, snuggling by the fireplace with a good book and a cup of cocoa, or experiencing the outdoors with snow skiing, ice skating, or hurling snow balls at each other, please enjoy this season with childlike wonder. 

In today’s society, I’ve found something that really disturbs me. I’ve found that most doctors don’t acknowledge and appreciate their patients. They look at most of their patients as a paycheck or a number. That’s sad.

I’m not sure, but you’ve probably been to a rude doctor, a doctor who may make you wait over an hour or longer for your appointment, and even a doctor who didn’t even listen to what you were saying and rushed out the door, once you were given a prescription. That’s SAD, but this is something that happens everyday. I think what the health care system has become is unfortunate.

I know that insurance companies have a strangle hold on many doctors. But that is no excuse. To avoid this type of thing happening in this office, I’m personally writing you this letter to let you know,

I’m not like that…

and to tell you, Thank You for choosing me as your chiropractor.

Further, I want to assure you that you’ve made the right decision and you’ll always get that personal touch and attention that you need, if you ask for it. Another thing, you’ll never be treated like a number and you’ll never ever be talked down to in my office either.

It’s my policy to treat everyone with respect, the way I would want to be treated if I were the patient.

Whether you know it or not, you’ve become an extended member of my family. What I mean by that is this. I’ll always make the time to listen to your concerns, so I can attend to your specific needs. All you have to do is ask me.

Why More People Need Chiropractic Care
I had a friend. He’d been a friend of mine for years. We actually grew up together, and even went to high school together, then hung out together after hours. Well he’s the same age as I am. He ate pretty much the same thing I did. Thing is, he was always SICK. Yes, sick. I don’t know why, but his immune system never really worked that well. He wasn’t like me from the beginning. He wasn’t adjusted regularly, he took a lot of medicine for his asthma, and now he is suffering from something called COPD. He can’t run like he used to, he can’t talk as fast as he used to, and if we go somewhere and we have to go up a flight of stairs, he can hardly make it. So the simple truth about Chiropractic is this.
*Chiropractic is Safe. Chiropractic care is so safe, even newborns can get adjusted to correct the spinal trauma from the birth process.
*There’s No Side Effects To Your Adjustments. Any “side effects” tend to be positive effects. You can experience a better balance, more energy, increased vitality and improved coordination, just to name a few.
*Chiropractic is the Smart Choice. It makes sense to correct the underlying cause rather than fool the body by covering up your pain with drugs. If you know someone you think we can help, send him or her our way.
*Chiropractic is Effective. As you know, your nervous system controls your entire body, and chiropractic care helps restore nervous system integrity, and chiropractic care has been known to HELP a variety of health issues.
*Chiropractic is All Natural. Simply put, chiropractic care doesn’t add chemicals to your body. And it doesn’t remove parts. Instead, it seeks to restore proper control and regulation of your body so your health can return, in a natural way.

Are your wrists sore from all that online shopping yesterday? How about your neck?
Did you know that looking down at a computer, tablet, or phone screen over time can put more pressure on your body? Changing the angle that your head and neck are at actually changes how many pounds of pressure your head is putting on your body. This can make your neck and shoulders sore as well as give you headaches.
Come in for an adjustment so you can feel better and get all that shopping done!
