Judging by what they say in the news, you need to have a PhD in order to find the cheapest electricity plan. The reality is that finding the cheapest electricity price is actually VERY EASY once you understand how electricity is priced, how the electricity market works and most importantly: what is the ONE single trick all the power companies use in order to confuse you. It's quite sad to hear that hundreds of thousands of Aussie families are paying more than they should. There are over half a million of those in NSW alone!

It's almost certain that the person sitting next to you on the plane didn't pay the same price for their flight as you did (unless you booked together). Airfare is one of those things where being savvy can yield the most savings.

Got the "ready for service" letter from NBN Co.? These things are worth looking into before you start looking at who to sign up with.

What do you think of this scheme? Would you consider using it if you wanted to go solar but didn't have the cash to pay upfront for that?

Do you have school-aged kids? If so, go and ask them if the people from the CBA already showed up at their school and started telling them about the "two cool kids: Cred & Spend". Go ahead: ask them now. If the answer is yes, you need to show up at the office of their principal tomorrow and DEMAND that they immediately put an end to this nonsense! The government should have done it decades ago but they didn't so it's up to you.

The foreign exchange rate you see on Google or sites like XE is known as the wholesale interbank rate. As a private individual, you can't get this rate. However, if you're savvy and have the right bank account or credit card when shopping online or going overseas, you can get pretty damn close!

This new technology introduced in the latest iPhone could be a potential game changer. Once more phones and providers (including the 'virtual' operators) start supporting it, you'd be able to switch providers at the drop of a hat and won't even need to bother getting a new SIM.

These new comers may initially target tech-savvy millennials but when (and if) they start offering better value and better services, many others will jump onboard. After all, you'd be happy to try out some fancy new app if it means you save thousands on your mortgage, right?

The ACCC announced recently that the gloves are off and they will now be dishing out fines in the millions to telcos who mislead customers regarding mobile plans. Now, ACMA is joining in on the act and will be dishing out massive fines to NBN providers who mislead customers, fail to resolve complaints in a timely manner or fix connection errors.
