We ran the 2015 Hood to Coast Relay race this weekend; 198 miles from Mt. Hood to the Seaside Oregon Coast. Our team of 12 runners took 30.5 hours, with each of us running three legs.

I ran legs 7, 19, and 31, with the race starting at 6:30am and my first leg at about 11am (leg 7, 5.4 miles, moderate), then another at 10pm (leg 19, 5.89 miles, very hard), and my last leg around 7:30am the next day (leg 31, 3.96 miles, moderate).

All said, it was a total blast and I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Elliette Hunter (6yo) riding a bike without training wheels for the first time ever! We practiced with training wheels for about 3 weeks and then after just a few attempts she was able to pedal and balance by herself. (May 2015).

Flash from the past! A close friend sent me this photo a couple of days ago which was taken at the Oregon Zoo, probably some time around 2010 because Elliette is sooooo tiny! They grow up too fast.

Found this gem in the archives. My great great grandpappy stirring up trouble back in his heyday (photo taken June, 2014).

This smashed up Cadillac Escalade was parked by my house today. I'm not quite sure what happened ... but that was an expensive mistake.

We visited Albany Oregon this past weekend where Preston (18yo) was subjected to the US Marines' (CFT) Combat Fitness Test with his fellow Marines recruits before he ships off for Basic Training in about 3 weeks, June 2014.

Besides being screamed at by Marines Drill Sergeants generally, the recruits were made to run laps, do pushups, stand up and down on command over and over and over again, sit perfectly still, carry simulated casualties a drag and  then a fireman's carry 75 yards zigzaging through cones, throw a dummy grenade into a target, run carrying ammo cans (2x 30 lbs each), hoist ammo cans, low crawl and high crawl over a field, and generally be subjected to physically exhausting commands.

Preston did great and I think he's going into the Marines with eyes wide open. In about 4 months, he should graduate from basic as an official Marine having earned has Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.
