Is going back a good strategy for the future?

+Jaguar are using their heritage to produce a "new" car - a continuation of a model made 60 years ago. But for a forward looking organisation does this give the right impression? There are strong arguments for why Jaguar should do this but having changed their positioning and image over recent years to produce a range of cars targeted at buyers younger than used to be the case some might see this as Jaguar being stuck in the past.

On the positive side, what it does do is demonstrate the capability of Jaguar to maintain their older cars, looking after customers however long they have owned their cars.

Whether good or not for the image, I know I would love to be able to buy one of these continuation cars!

I received a package through the post today which demonstrates very well how packaging can enhance the perception of a product. As a background I answered a questionnaire from +Bremont (an English luxury watchmaker) for which I received a voucher for money off in their accessories store. I decided to put it towards a key-fob - which still seemed pretty expensive even with more than 50% off!

The key-fob arrived today, in a black padded envelope. The picture shows what was inside, and the bag inside the box which contained the key fob.

So, as well as enhancing the product the physical evidence was great - if it is this good for a key-fob how good would it be for a watch at 100 times the price! Maybe one day I will try them out...

I would love to hear of other examples anyone has.

Busy day today on our stand at the Brand Yorkshire Conference and Exhibition in Harrogate discussing CIM marketing qualifications and our course options for them.
