Nothing goes better with Southern BBQ than a cold pint of beer and a glass of whiskey. Come in and appreciate some traditional Southern cooking, well crafted cocktails, extensive whiskey seletion and house-brewed beer.

Brisket & ribs pair with American whiskeys & house-brewed beer at this upscale barbecue joint.- Google
"I recommend the hamhock, cheesy grits and hush puppies."
"However, if you are looking for Southern food, this might be your only option."

They have a good range of whiskey and have some interesting names for cocktails. I liked the Prohibition Sweet Tea. Not too sweet and light on the booze so I could enjoy my hearty ribs meal. The ribs were good and are a sizeable portion that you can easily share with another friend. You can try them with different sauces that are on the table. My favorite was the Baton Rouge Gumbo, which was really, really good and plated to us first. Be sure to finish your gumbo quickly to make space for the ribs though. I think we kept our friends waiting since we were taking our time with the gumbo.

I walked in and was immediately flooded with the smell of bleach coming from the back of the restaurant. Why would there be an open bleach mop bucket in a restaurant during open hours?
Response from the owner - a month ago
Hi Randen - I'm so sorry to hear about your experience! We actually don't use bleach in the restaurant, however, because we are a brewery, we do have more strict cleanliness policies surrounding the brewing area. It's possible that when you visited us, we had just finished pulling some kegs from our tanks and sanitizing the equipment. Again, I'm really sorry about this and I hope you'll consider coming back to try us out! Warmly, Maura

I've walked by Southpaw at least a few hundred times, but I think I've only been there once before. I recently went back again with a few friends, and I was amazed at the service and food. Wish I had thrown Southpaw into my regular rotation earlier! Pretty full on a Saturday night, but we were lucky to get seats at the packed bar and then eventually seated at a table. We ordered a few drinks while we waited. The Southpaw iced tea was really good - sweet but strong. The What What was also good and well balanced with a spicy hint of jalapeno, but didn't taste as strong. Lots of great options for paleo, primal, & gluten-free foodies. I really enjoyed the smoked beef brisket (they offer lean, medium fatty, and fatty cuts) with sweet potatoes (no molasses/sugar added). Also tried the fried pickles with aoli, which were good, but a little too breaded for my taste. The hush puppies were also really good! Service was super friendly and atmosphere was casual and bustling. I can't wait to come back and try their other BBQ dishes!

The "What What"" cocktail was great. The beef brisket and pork were equally delicious! Service was very attentive.
