Ugh! Poor dog! Here is an example of how useful dental radiographs (x-rays) can be. At first look, the teeth just look like they could use a good cleaning. However, if you look closer at the center of the photo, you can see tan discoloration on the gingiva and mucosa above premolar 106 (the second to the left of the upper canine tooth). The radiograph clearly shows the massive amount of bone loss around one of the roots caused by an abscess. This dog was much more comfortable without this tooth!

Hi there! My brother and I are looking for a home. A really, really, special home. You see, we tested positive for a viral disease called FIV. We are pretty sure we are positive because of mom (a feral cat), so we are not likely to become infected, but we have to wait for retesting for several months. We are very likely to live a long, healthy life! I am the vibrant and handsome red (orange) classic tabby. A real purring machine. I was originally taken in by a SCRAPS foster family, so I have already been neutered and microchipped and had my first vaccine and deworming! SCRAPS will require a small adoption fee for me, but the foster family caught my brother later and brought him directly to SouthCare, so he is free to join me if we can find a home. He has had his first vaccines and deworming. He is a brown tabby with white, is a bit more shy than myself, but I have brought him out of his shell with my shining personality. We play together for most of the day, when, of course, we are not sleeping. Sleeping is just preparation for more playing!

Showing beagle family solidarity during a vet visit has it's rewards. Unfortunately, the cookie flavor was not quite as expected by everyone...
