Saturday’s Art Club
Southampton Arts Academy

5th November 2016
It’s fireworks night! We are all very excited for the fireworks and bonfires, that we spent today creating our own firework displays. We have learnt lots of different techniques using the acrylic paints and how to apply them. We painted the background in black, then splattered paint to create our quirky and vivid fireworks display!
What have we learnt today?
Today we have learnt how to apply thick paint onto dry canvas called dry paint onto dry canvas. We also learnt a new technique called “stippling”, where we applied the paint only as dots. We then went further we this, splattering the paint using a diluted mixture.
“The blue is mixing in with the red when I flick the paint” Sasha
“The paint is too thick to flick, I need to add water to it” Alisa

“I moved the paint to make the fireworks look like this. I splattered the paint first, then spread it with the brush” Rebecca

Here is the group showing off their firework masterpieces.

Next week
Before the Christmas rush, we are spending some time perfecting our drawing skills and watercolour techniques.

Saturday’s Art Club
Southampton Arts Academy

29th October 2016
In the spirit of Halloween, this week at the Saturday’s Art Club we have made our own imaginary monsters and creatures. We have learnt lots of different techniques using the acrylic paints and how to apply them. We drew our creations on special acrylic canvas paper and then used the paint to bring our creatures to life!
What have we learnt today?
Today we have learnt how to mix acrylic paints and how to apply them using brushes and palette knives. We also learnt a technique called “dry brush”, where we applied the paint straight onto the canvas without diluting it, to create bright and bold colours.
Scrapbook

“This is my DogFox, it is part red fox, and part brown dog. I sponged the clouds with white paint and tissues.” Alisa

“This is my grey wolf with wings; he can fly and has feathers.” Rebecca

Next week
As it is Bon Fire Night next week, we will be making our own firework painting to celebrate the 5th of November!

Combined Music and Drawing Lessons for Children

Our combined Music and Drawing lessons are specifically designed to help your child learn and enjoy an instrument (typically piano, violin or guitar) while learning who to draw musical and non-musical shapes and objects. The lesson is divided in four quarters, the first and third of which is music and the other two are arts. The subject of the drawing is usually taken from the context of the song or is related to the instrument, although we also cover drawing techniques and ideas not necessarily related to music. You don't need any instruments or equipment as we provide everything necessary. Book your FREE taster lesson today via freephone 08006122616 or our website at: www.SouthamptonArtsAcademy.com
