Gravitational lensing in action...

Last Orbits of a Binary Black Hole Merger: Face-on View
Nov. 4, 2014: This is a physically accurate gravitational lensing visualization of the last few orbits of a binary black hole merger. The camera is above the orbital plane of the merger, looking down. The mass ratio is 3 to 1. The large black hole has a dimensionless spin of 0.7, whereas the small hole's dimensionless spin is 0.3, with both spins in arbitrary directions. This is case 4 of Phys. Rev. D, 88:124010, Dec 2013, 1309.3605.

This HD video was created by SXS Lensing www.black-holes.org/lensing, of the Simulating eXtreme Spacetimes (SXS) collaboration, www.black-holes.org. Data from the 2MASS catalog was used in its generation.

The SXS project is a collaborative research effort involving multiple institutions. Our goal is the simulation of black holes and other extreme spacetimes to gain a better understanding of Relativity, and the physics of exotic objects in the distant cosmos.

The SXS project is supported by the Sherman Fairchild Foundation, the NSF, and NASA.

:-D Spoilers ahead!

This is ambitious. Lots of Matrix spoilers, of course; it's an 8-bit adaption, after all, in the style of every beat'em'up ever made, except a little better than they usually were on the C-64. :-)

Wow!

Is there anything a robotic system for the extrusion of plastic in to solid forms over time can’t do? We present to you today the Pi-Top, a #RaspberryPi -based laptop that is completely #3D-printed and lasts hours on a single charge. The kit, which will launch as a Kickstarter soon, offers a 13.3-inch screen and a little keyboard and trackpad combo for data entry. Viola! A little open source computer for you and yours. #Linux

This is rather an interesting piece of news!

- Windows 8.1 news Munich Switching Back To Windows After Linux Disappointment http://ow.ly/2LYita
Rewind the clock back to 2004, if you will, when the city of Munich decided to renounce the Windows platform and replaced it with Linux. City officials cited a number of reasons for this switch.

Interstellar This is the final trailer for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. If you're not already dying to see this movie, you will be now. In this trailer, you watch post-True Detective Matthew McConaughey choose between saving the world, and never seeing his family again. And he's gotta go to space to do it. I am on the edge of my seat and this was only a two-and-a-half-minute clip. We all have to wait about another month for the real deal though—Interstellar is out November 7.

Windows 9 might have Cortana installed! Awesome! When's Siri coming to OS X, now that Apple's playing the catch up game!

My recent thoughts exactly! I would be happy to have only one smart feature for my phone - the map, rest can go to hell!

Wow, phones have come a long way since... wait...

Interesting how the term "platform independence" changes over time. Few years back it was Java. Now Java has become a platform specific language for Android along with Objective-C for iOS and C# for Windows platforms! The platform independent language now a days seems to be C++!! What the heck! :D

+Sutanu Maiti  Yeah, it occurred to me after reading an article on Dropbox writing platform independent parts of their mobile apps in C++ and then integrating that with iOS/Android specific technologies. Interesting!
