Heya, Sophia here, 16 year old aspiring artist, loves cats and tea, and appreciates good critique.
I've been drawing for my whole life, and I always knew it's something I'd like to pursue in the future. People kept telling me I should rather aspire getting "a normal job" in a very roundabout way, and I listened for a while. But in the end I decided not to listen, and I will continue not to listen.
Once I got to Ireland, that was 2012, I started taking art seriously, and didn't do it as a hobby anymore, but as a passion. But I've been more or less alone with this. In my art class no one was an art enthusiast. But that solitude didn't stop me from keeping going.
I watch a lot of anime and therefore I used to draw lots of cartoony stuff, and less of the organic things in a realistic way. And if I did, it was still life of fruit. So I had almost no experience in drawing realistic faces, only silhouettes and cartoon versions were what I did for the faces.
I am relatively new to digital art, only had my graphic tablet for about 3 months now. The stuff I drew at first was very cartoony and slobbish. The very epitome of amateur.
And then I found the video about how to draw anime realistically (of course I had to find Istebrak through that video lol). The stuff she talked about really impressed me, although the fact that that class lasted for 1 hr scared me a little haha. I watched all of it, and then watched the next one and so on. After thinking I've watched enough of her stuff, I attempted to draw something realistic on Photoshop. My first try turned to shit lol. Because I still hadn't figured out how to paint properly in Photoshop. That's when I got really fired up and watched more and more and joined the streams. And now I am very surprised about how much I have been able to improve.
I went from shitty cartoon drawings to realistic bodies, faces, and ok looking gestures. I've learned how to learn how to draw. I've learned that everything I draw is not a piece, but a study. I've learned about the structure of a face, I've learned about the existence of values, and the fact that I should draw grayscale first. I've learned that just drawing something from a reference isn't enough, you need to get as close to the reference as you can, to learn how to draw something exactly the way it's presented to you.
I've learned that I am indeed not alone with my art. I have found a whole community full of people with the same passion, pursuing dreams in the same area, people that are just committed as I am, if not even more. This has been an incredible experience for me, especially after the disinterest in art I've experienced back in Ireland. And this adventure just keeps getting more and more amazing. I really look forward to keep working with all of you people, and I hope I keep improving at the same rate as I am now.

(Chronologically, the fox was the last thing I drew before discovering Istebrak (don't judge lol. it's a fanart and there's a story behind that). The unfinished teabag package was when I realized how shit I am, the next one is my "realistic anime guy", and the last one is the most recent realistic painting I've drawn, showing the whole process as well)

I found a really useful site to practice quick poses. Really shows you what you need to work on, since you have to draw everything quickly and instinctively.

Here's what I got. Drew all of em in 120 secs
Need to work on legs and arms lol. They always turn out deformed

Probably the first thing that turned out ok without a reference.
Focus was not on the colouring itself, but rather on the palette and colour choice.
Thanks for any critique <3

Dis Geralt from The Witcher III
I had to finish this today, so sadly I had to simplify the shading, detail etc a lot, but I'll probs go over it again once I'm back from vacation :3

Every time I try to post my painting it just disappears. I even reduced the size of it hoping it changes something, but it didn't. Any ideas on how to fix that?
