"For my illustrations, I love to explore the intimate relationship between human beings and nature. It can go from harmony to chaos. It's always beautiful in different ways. It's fascinating. Nature is an endless source of inspiration."

"An interesting aspect of my career is that I have the freedom to work as an independent artist without having to work for someone. I can choose what to do and how to connect directly with people through my work. Some of the materials I use to make illustrations are ink, watercolors, and markers with mixed techniques. I create characters inspired by pop culture, the everyday life, and events that have happened to me or those around me."

"The day I decided I wanted to be an artist was life changing. It was a first, giant step in a journey of endless self-discovery. You see, in art, there are no rules. I can draw whatever I want, however I want. It's exhilarating to know whatever I'm making is 100% me. That's my creativity, my message, my hard work, my passion. Everyone thinks that as the creator, there's no shock or awe for me once the art is completed, but it's not true. I'm taking it in just as much as my audience, if not more. When I look at my art, I'm completely enthralled. It's like getting a glimpse at a personal galaxy within you. And the more you create, the more you keep creating, because you want to get another glimpse of that world, and more than anything, you want others to see it too; all the colors, the beauty, the sensations. The day I decided I wanted to be an artist was life changing. Because for once, I didn't look at the world and wonder what people could offer me. For once, I looked at people and wondered what world I could offer them."

"I have been in love with adventure games and cartoons all my life. At one point in my life, I wanted to become a computer engineer since I wanted to create video games; but, I soon found out that my true passion was in the story and art, rather than programming, and followed a career in comic books and illustration. Even though I was trained in photo realism, my work tends to be on the cartoon side, as it gives me joy and flexibility, and it's quite fun to do."

"As a professional creative, I believe that any project has a personality besides the objective itself. This is valid for any design project, which is why templates should not be used, as they dont respond to the specific needs of the audience they intend to be directed to."

"I have always wanted to do an illustration for the Guardian and even though I have done all the other editorials, The Independent, The Sunday Times, GQ, Esquire, Mens Health and Design Week, I never got to illustrate for them until 2013. I really enjoyed the job as it was 2 large illustrations that would be featured in the Weekend review section. I had a 2-day turnaround that was very stressful, but I find I work better and produce my best work under that sort of pressure! It was for an extract from Zadie Smith’s NW. I took photos of my friends and then created the images around that using vivid colors and hand-drawn images in Photoshop."

"Regarding myself as a professional creative, I've noticed more and more, especially this past year, how important it is to surround yourself with fellow artists. Practice only takes you so far, but seeing all kinds of art everyday, taking advice, sometimes even just chatting a little gives you new tools to reinvent yourself and your art. I wasted years looking at the same type of art, so it was when I started paying attention to everything, even the things I might hate, that I felt I was finally creating something good and new."

"I like to construct stories, and every element of my images have to be part of that story.

Stories stop the viewer and leave him thinking about what the product is about, making him wonder what is happening, how each element relates to each other, why the elements are in that position, and why they chose that color palette.

To create images of products and tell their story, I strongly believe that you need to get to know the products the same way that you need to know a person before taking his/her portrait.

Every product has it’s own details, texture and volume, and that needs to be conveyed in the image. Showing a product, and telling a story about it to leave room for imagination, is what I really enjoy doing."

"I started shooting street photography to get me out of the house during a maddening and stressful postgrad degree. I never really learned anything formally, unless you count a couple of workshops. I think I'm more interested in the emotional elements of a shot than the technical ones -- my favourite photographs are the ones which show off a bunch of personality.

Since that postgrad (which didn't work out, b-t-w) I've shot for VICE, HSBC, ShortList, Siemens, and a whole bunch of other places. I don't know how I got so lucky, but I don't like to analyse it in case I jinx it."

"I like to tell stories whether it is a film or a photo. I’m always looking for strong visual ideas with an emotional undertone, and I want there to be a connection between the film or photo and the audience."
