Such a terrible lady! I came in for training, the whole time she was looking down on me, saying very mean and degrading comments on me in front of everyone else.. Mind you it was my first day and clearly I never went back.. She never paid me for training, which is illegal.. The girl that was training me said that everybody hated her, that even her sons are bringing her to court because she tried stealing money from her own family. Don't do business with this terrible lady.

After reading magazine articles (People, etc) about Sonya Dakar's "Spa" I called for a facial appointment....JUST a facial appointment, which i assumed would cost around $300 at most. I even thought about buying a few products to continue the regimine at home. WELL.......... what a horrible experience. Like all the other reviews i have read...many in fact...I not only waited at least 2 hours for Sonya but the minute she came in she , not apologizing, dove right in to tell me the famous faces she had taken care of. THEN proceeded to do one treatment after another. When she was done, I was told to meet her receptionist to pay and pick up my products. I sat across from the receptionist, pulling my checkbook out of my handbag, getting ready to write something in the area of $300.00 . She handed me a bill for $8500 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only was I told to pay this BUT since I was a new client (I never said I'd be back) I was to give them a credit card or cash for this amount, since they wouldn't take a personal check! After I picked myself off the ground, I told them I did not bring a wallet of tricks, only my driver's license and checkbook. She said she'd wait for me to run across the street to get my check cashed! In the end, as I was driven back to the airport, feeling as poor as the cab driver, I vowed to report her. But for one reason or another never did. Probably trying to forget this ever happened! All I can say is it was a horrible experience. My face looked red and beat up after the facial, because she was 2 hours late for me, I was late for my plane...almost missing it...the products did absolutely NOTHING and I feel like an idiot for even paying her. I cannot believe she is still in business. I think Aida Thibiant is wonderful . Her spa is fabulous as well as her products. When you hear the name Sonya Dakar....run.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>!!!!!!!

Sonya contracted our company to perform a fire inspection after being cited by the city. She signed our agreement, we performed the inspection and after 2 months, STILL HAVE NOT BEEN PAID. There is always one excuse after another for not getting payment. Interesting that she over charges everone who has posted a review and doesn't pay people she owes. STAY AWAY!!! People like her need to be forced out of business!

Staff... nice enough, really, but turnover seems high. Perhaps their conscience gets to them. One girl came in to prep me and literally did not know how to work the little hair net to keep the product out of my hair and gave up. For the price, you've got to be kidding me. Lucy is very nice and competent. Treatments... "luxury" has rarely been a word I would associate with my experiences at her clinic. While the building and treatment rooms are nice and tastefully appointed, this is aesthetic only. They do offer you water consistently upon arrival. The music selection is good, if they remember to actually turn it on. I've spent many appointments waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the next step of my treatment in absolute silence. There are absolutely no facial/decollete/shoulder/hand massages, no discounts to compensate you for your wasted time and patience, and everyone seems to just accept this as par for the course. To be fair, I did not go to the SD clinic to get pampered. I wanted a solution to my persistent adult acne, and I welcomed Sonya's 'no frills, plain speak' approach. She has a good memory and can be very personable. Yet prepare to waste 2-4 hours undergoing what should only be a 1.5 hour series of treatments. This is because they will be late in starting, will put product on you and disappear for lengthy amounts of time, etc. Sonya Dakar... she does know how to improve your skin, but it seems that this knowledge takes a backseat to her goals of building a global empire, and at the expense of her desperate-for-flawless-skin customer base (and there are a lot of us out here). Often late for appointments. Answers cell phone in the middle of your facial. Will actually leave without explanation or apology in the middle of your treatment. Tends to handle your skin roughly to the point of drawing blood during extractions, leaving bruises as your skin tries to recover in the days/weeks following your treatment. Continually attempts to goad you into purchasing more and more products, threatening that your skin will rebel and look worse than before. Will insist that you need 15+ products in order to maintain good results. I mean, seriously? Even after you purchase thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of treatments and products, there will always be something else you need to add. Worst of all, three times I've had her literally barge in while her staff was in the MIDDLE of performing a $400-500 treatment on me to announce (erroneously) that I owed them money, or to nitpick whether or not I signed off on treatments already administered. They are severely disorganized and unprofessional... and offer no apologies when they discover that they are wrong, accused you incorrectly, and rudely interrupted your luxury facial service for no reason, after all. As a paying customer, I find this to be utterly offensive and unacceptable behavior. Even if my account were in arrears, have the professional decency to discuss it before/after my treatment. Products... some are pretty nice, to be honest. The drying potion, Omega oil, and retinol are very nice. Others are pointless and will be pushed on you to buy regardless. Cost... expect to pay top dollar and receive about a 1-star service quality in return. The cost is proportionate to the hype, founded on the names of talented women like Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, and Drew Barrymore. Summary: My skin in general has improved under her care, but her use of a lancet during extractions sometimes leaves it worse than before, and the damage lasts for days afterward. I go in a month later looking better and healed, and can come out looking worse for wear/bruised/bloody. Over all, the anxiety, pressure, and poor professionalism is not worth it at all. My recommendation? Find a medspa that offers microderm/acid peels. I am certain this combo is responsible for the improvement in my skin, and Sonya Dakar is definitely not the only one with this technology in Los Angeles.
