Use a TV antenna for cellular? it could work... - Technically it is possible to use a UHF antenna for a cell booster. Cellular telephones use frequencies just above those used for UHF television, and it's possible that even though a TV antenna wasn't designed for it, it could pick up some of those frequencies. Let's back up a little bit and explain a bit about broadcasting. When you see a frequency, that's really telling you that the information is built into a "carrier wave" that has a cer...

What are Redmere cables? - You might be looking at our Redmere cables and saying, What's so special about Redmere cables? Isn't that just another way to make me spend money? It's so much more. We wouldn't blame you for thinking that Redmere cables are just a marketing ploy; after all one of the technology's early adopters has a monstrous record for overcharging

STREAMING SATURDAY: Can’t Buy Me the Newest Movies - Netflix and other streaming services might be spending big money on original programming, but that money can’t buy me the newest movies! When some pundits hear that Netflix is spending $5 billion last year to acquire original content, it begs certain questions. One of those questions might be “Why does Netflix think original programming is the way to go when movie theaters can’t get people into seats unless they show sequels and franchise...

Ken Reid is a square peg - Note: The Ken Reid TV Guidance Counselor Podcast is rated PG-13 and may contain mild language. I'm Ken Reid, a stand up comedian from Boston, MA and a life long television fan. I've been twice nominated as the Best Stand up in Boston and I have been featured on Comedy Central, NPR, Nerdist, and MSN. I own every issue of TV Guide. Each week a guest chooses an issue at random, picks their viewing choices from that week and the show is our discussion of the tough vie...

Excellent review by Janet Williford, via Facebook

We cut the cord on satellite tv and needed an over-the-air antenna. After discussing the problem with a local tv station engineer, he recommended a particular antenna and suggested Solid Signal would have the best pricing. He was right. It was easy to set up an account and order the antenna. The antenna was right on time as promised. We were given a tracking number and had no problems with delivery. The whole process was wonderfully easy and correct. Great customer service! Will order from Solid Signal again!

Will you need a whole new cell booster for 5G? - 5G. It's the new buzzword for people who are truly on the leading edge of cell phone technology. 5G is the next, next big thing; it's the big thing that's on the horizon now that LTE has been around a long time. (Note: the "LT" in "LTE" stands for "Long Term;" I guess four years is about as long-term as it gets in the cellular world. 5G is designed to be the technology that truly erases the line between traditional home internet and tradition...

FUN FRIDAY: Rogue One on VHS - This popped up around April Fool's Day and while I picked it up as an obvious trick, I have to really applaud the hard work put in here. Someone spent a lot of time creating an 80s-style commercial for a "Rogue One VHS" and included period-appropriate type, packaging, and even put in special effects that mimic the problems that an old or overplayed tape would have. Even with all the filters and
