Introduction

Sojourner Marable Grimmett presents a message of love, education and service. A native of Boulder, Colorado, her experiences in higher education spanning nearly a decade have involved her in college admissions, student services and community relations. Her energy and imagination have inspired her to become involved in a variety of constructive activities involving people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Sojourner has been widely recognized for writing and speaking about the joys and challenges of being a "stay-at-work" mom and connects with moms, both new and experienced, who have the responsibility of raising a family and maintaining a full-time job.

As a newly-minted stay-at-work mom, what is unique about her writing style is that she speaks effectively to young adults in their 20s and 30s who are confronted with balancing professional goals with the demands of raising children.

Sojourner's philosophy of life is that she "never meets a stranger." Passionate about educational excellence, Sojourner has developed programs promoting inclusiveness, encouraging women and men to reach their personal goals and full potential. Sojourner previously worked at CNN, Georgia Public Television, and as an AmeriCorps member at Harvard University's Martin Luther King Jr. after-school program.

She has a BA in communications from Clark Atlanta University '01 and an MA in media studies from Pennsylvania State University '03. Sojourner is active in the greater Atlanta community, participating in the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, initiated into "Sweet" Alpha Pi Chapter in Spring '99.

She has been featured in FitPregnancy, Real Simple, iVillage, Southwest Parenting Magazine, BlackCelebKids.com, WhatToExpect.com, The Suburban Woman, Fox News,  and CNN.

She lives in Atlanta with her husband, Roland and two young sons, Roland Jay and Joshua. She invites readers to follow her blog sojournermarablegrimmett.blogspot.com, on Twitter and like her on Facebook.
