I have a love-hate relationship with hashtags on Twitter. On the one hand, they're a useful way to tie different conversations into one stream. When it comes to following a news item, entering a contest, or figuring out out what's going on in your favorite sports game, they can be super helpful -- and sometimes even fun.

Over the years, my partner Charlene Li and I authored a series of research papers and also a short book on the evolution of social businesses, from philosophy to strategy to practice. Along the way, we also produced an effective maturity model and infographic that documented the six stages of social business transformation. This work would eventually pave the way toward my focus on digital transformation and innovation today.

When do you do your best work? For me, it's realllllly early in the morning. I used to get up at 4 a.m., grab a steaming cup of coffee, and just start writing. At that time of day, words flowed so easily that I could finish a 1,500-word post in an hour. Later in the day, that same post would've taken me twice as long.

Infographics have become an increasingly popular and powerful method for delivering vast amounts of data while generating incredible visibility. Considering that the human brain is able to consume visual content 60,000 times faster than text, it is little wonder that infographics are so powerful. Even more compelling is the fact that consumers seem to like visual content better than text. In fact, Jeff Bullas points out that images receive nearly two times more views than content without images.

The invention of social media has given a platform to anyone who has an email address and can create an account. These days, some people don’t see the connection between what they post on social media and how it shapes their online reputation.

Creative trends can be fickle. Remember those super glossy CTAs that used to be on every website? Now, flat, minimalistic design is in.

There have been a lot of questions about Facebook lately: Are people still using it? Is it on the decline? Can businesses still find it valuable? With over 1 billion active users, it’s safe to say that Facebook is alive and well.

Whether you’re an experienced social user or not, moderating comments and managing communities is an entirely different ballgame. When you’re tweeting or engaging with customers on behalf of your organization, there’s a whole other realm of “netiquette” to consider, including how to best address negative comments. Delete? Respond? Ignore and hope it goes away? Don’t despair, instead follow this infographic to guide you through the steps to managing negative social comments.
