#CryptoLocker continues to spread, holding thousands of company files for ransom and causing untold damage in dollars and lost data.

At the very least I urge everyone to test their backups. Remember a backup solution does not equal a thumb drive in a desk somewhere, redundant and automatic is a must!

These GPO policies will help prevent the nasty virus that is CryptoLocker. Ask your IT team if your business is protected.

BEWARE - A nasty Windows virus is going around called #CryptoLocker that encrypts working documents like Office files, pictures, mp3 etc. Files that are encrypted by this virus are effectively destroyed unless a $100-$300 ransom is paid. Primary avenue of infection is an email attachment that appears to come from a delivery company like FedEx or DHL.

Cleaning this virus is easy but the damage to your files is permanent!

Is your data safe? If your computers were stolen or lost in a fire do you have up to date backups in place? Proper data backup means more than an external hard drive in a drawer somewhere.

With off the shelf hardware and some free cloud storage you can have automatic redundant local AND encrypted off-site backup of your data for less than $500.

I'm not selling anything, just offering free advice on how to protect your data. Ask me how.
