Impeccably named Aussie meteorologist Magdalena Roze and her chef amour were enamoured of #London stay #TheGrazingGoat 's down-to-earth dining, and the seemingly serendipitous hailstorm over #Mayfair (shh, don't let on that it's just typical British inclemency)…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Mr Smith reminds me that our room must be ready. Four flights of stairs later, we flop onto our crisp white-linen-covered super-king sleigh bed. Latté-hued wooden furniture, vintage lamps, a woolen throw… the room is understated and classy (yes, you guessed it, I’m visualising it as an extension of Ralph’s lodge). But the pièce de résistance is the oversized marble ensuite. My devilishly handsome but maintenance-free Mr Smith would be happy just with a tap, but the freestanding tub, industrial-strength rain shower, Leroy Brooks taps and Aesop products are not lost on me. Nor is our charming view. I vaguely make out people pottering about their apartments, just as a brief hailstorm covers Mayfair’s rooftops in icing sugar. Did someone tell them a weather girl was going to be here reviewing the hotel?'

It was impossible to choose between the rooftop pool and the basement spa at #Shoreditch Rooms. So we tried both.

Alice Stone (scarf stylista at Lily and Lionel) scored girlfriend brownie points galore by whisking her Mr Smith to genteel #Cotswolds stay #DormyHouse for his birthday (and a stealth review). Sorry fellas – by all accounts it was a roaring success…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

'There’s a bubbly heated hydro pool on an outdoor terrace, and a glowing amethyst-hued indoor infinity pool flanked by huge, supremely soft sand-coloured sofa beds and glossy magazines begging to be lazily flicked through amid the tranquil atmosphere. Pick between the glass-walled lavender-infused pool-view sauna, and a Finnish junipery number; a sea-salty steamy hammam, and the tropical showers are as glamorous as places to sweat or splash can be. We already felt floaty and we hadn’t even had our couples massage yet… Warmly welcomed into a sprawling suite with heated couches, Mr Smith and I agreed this is what heaven must resemble.'

Not even the coldest winter in years could deter London based artist-designer Jim Biddulph from falling for New York. Of course, a stay at the Viceroy New York, a stylish new Midtown hotel, was a large part of the charm.
_________________________________________

'Carrying an air of business about it, our Viceroy Park View room follows suit. If you’re familiar with plush boardrooms or wood panelled offices with subtle finishes and luxurious leather accents then you’ll feel right at home. Thoughtful details, such as the Roman and Williams design, custom platform bed and honey-hued built-in cabinets, make the room comfortable without straying into the austere.

Handsome as the decor may be, it’s out-weighed by the wide-open views of Central Park. From this height and vantage point you’re reminded precisely where you are: New York City. And with its twinkling lights, reaching buildings, nestled water towers and massive green space smack-dab in the city’s centre, there’s nowhere else quite like it.'

Most hotel guests are content to swipe mini shampoo bottles but after visiting hip monochrome hideaway #101Hotel in #Reykjavik , #Iceland   globetrotter Charlotte Biering wants to smuggle the #hotel's talented masseuse back home…
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Mr Smith returns to find me collapsed on our bed, swaddled in a dressing gown and mumbling about the ethics of smuggling a fully-grown woman, a bottle of massage oil and all the room’s linen into my suitcase. Despite protests, I am dressed and dragged downstairs to catch the tail-end of happy hour…'

#HOTEL  OF THE WEEK: Rancho Valencia

Style Courting favour
Setting #California  ranchlands

Why this week? We never need a reason to go somewhere sunny, beautiful and luxurious, but it certainly doesn’t hurt that this outdoorsy retreat-of-the-stars just finished its brand-new #tennis  courts and clubhouse and is putting the final touches on its miles of picturesque private #hiking  trails. Throw in their $250 resort credit #offer  for stays from now until the end of June 2014 and we don’t need any more nudging.
